Ok not really a park or a resort, but I went there for the first time in about 30 years. A strange amalgamation of shops celebrating German culture as represented by Lederhosen, half-timbered buildings, garden gnomes, and large vacent beerhalls. I guess this is the off season until Oktoberfest, but the place was kind of empty, sad, and a little bit creepy.
Coming from German heritage, I felt a bit embarresed by the place. I mean, if I were going to celebrate German Culture, I'd do something with the Berlin Cabarets of Weimar Germany, Expressionist painting & cimena, or maybe delve into the Romantic period of Beethoven, Goethe, or Shiller. Forget Oktoberfest, let's have the Love Parade, the ur-tekno of Kraftwerk, and the industrial din of Einstürzende Neubauten.
Alas it's just canned Oom-Pah-Pah echoing off empty allyways.
:(
