Hi,
Is there a place to park that is cheaper (other than the onsite parking) nearest to Disneyland. We prefer not to walk too far but any other suggestions or tips would be great.

Thanks,

Toocherie

I take it you are not staying at a hotel within walking distance? If you are, then usually hotels will allow parking for at least one car. Many hotels further away have shuttles or you can use the Anaheim Resort Transportation bus ($4 per person per day--multi-day discounts). Otherwise, if you are just coming for the day on-site parking is your best bet unless you are staying five hours or less--if staying less than five hours than there is parking at Downtown Disney for three hours free--which can be expanded by two hours to five hours if you eat at one of the sit-down restaurants in DTD and get validation. Otherwise, Disneyland is surrounded by privately owned property so there really aren't parking options unless you're staying at a hotel.

Can't you just pay to park at Disney? My God, for the amount it costs to go to DL an extra $14 or whatever is nothing.

Not any more without paying.

Over the past 3-6 months, most hotels that I used to stay at now charge anything from $15 to $25 per 24hr's.

Given that Mickey & Friends is easy to get in and out of, and is only $14 (with in and out access) I would suggest parking there.

460 line runs from Fullerton Park and Ride to Disneyland and parking is free but the bus is like $3 round trip, not sure as I have disabled discount.
There are OCTA buses running from Disneyland past or near some hotels.
ART is another option that was mentioned.

The others can help you on deciding which if any hotel in the area is close enough for you to walk and still park free.

Parking at a business and leaving to go to another site such as Disneyland can lead to vehicle towing and parking tickets. Good luck on your hunt for cheap parking.

The Ramada Maingate has been placing a sign on Harbor if they have extra parking spaces for $10... Corner of Harbor and Disney Way.

Or you can park at the Park and Ride at the intersection of the 91 and 5 freeways and take the LA Metro bus (Route 460) to the park. That is $1.25 per adult each way.

I've noticed that every hotel I've reserved through getawaytoday.com has given me free parking even if they normally charged for the space.

With the cost, time and effort expended to save a buck it would be easier to just go to Mickey and Friends parking and get it over with.

That is the luxury of all-inclusive rooms rates.

It would appear that the prices are changing due to a backlash from guests. I stayed at the Marriott Fairfield Inn in November/December and as it was booked 5 months in advance had free parking although the website at that time was stating the fee was $15 per day, now it says $5 per day.

The other place I normally stay at. Holiday Inn Express on Katella was asking for $10 per day on-site parking, it is now back to free parking.

The funny thing about both those properties is the base rates have gone up by close to $20 per night, obviously some of that is natural inflation with the start of a new year, but I reckon there is a good chance that the parking fee has just been incorporated into the regular room rate... sneaky sneaky sneaky

you know, we've used the info i got here about the best price guarantee for the FI and we got rates at $65/night for a week in feb and $75/night for 3 nights in a couple of weeks. so for rates that cheap, the parking isn't a big deal to add on.

i've been meaning to post a thread to say thanks for that info, but i'll do it here...THANK YOU MP!!

Ramada Maingate is right across the street and has parking for 10 bucks... but they are right its easier to park at Ramada or on site.

what hotel are you staying at?

Thanks for the tip Toocherie.

And thanks also to all who provided suggestions/ideas. Much appreciated.

That just seems so inconvenient to save $10 (or whatever the difference is in parking costs).

The original poster was looking for options. Having ridden the 460 bus from Norwalk I can say that it is a pain in the neck and not worth all that effort to save $10 but I gave them an option and will let them decide what is best for them even it is not practical for me.
