The Flip Camcorder [Archive]

I am contemplating purchasing this camcorder for my trip and for future outings, have any of you used these? Or have one?

I have read many reviews and think they are good, I also asked our video manager at the school and he said they are pretty cool, cheap and fun to use.

But then again I am used to my cellphone, so I just wonder if its worth to bring along? Although I suppose I would rather take this than the regular camcorder/camera!

we have one, they are very simple and easy to use, if you can use a cell phone you can use a flip.

Great, it looks easy to use....although I dont mind reading the instructions manual! :)

It looks more convenient than a bulky one.

Or if you have a regular digital camera, you could just use the video function on that.

We have a flip and we love it. I recorded DD's School play with it.

I got mine for a great price last Xmas at Costco.

You might also look at the Kodak Pocket Video camcorders. They are very similar to the Flip, except that they use SD cards instead of internal memory for storage. That gives you the option of carrying extra cards if you need more capacity.

We have the Kodak Zx1 and have been pretty happy with it.

Yeah, I've got one of the older Flips and they're great. I think my dad just bought the Kodak one and he likes it a lot.

You'll get a lot more video that either a cell or still cam can do, with better quality. The sound quality is surprisingly good too. I shoot all my shows with my Flip for review.

IMHO the picture quality suffers rather greatly. I tried the Flip MinoHD and it really doesn't cut it. The picture is far from sharp and the compression is far too much to the point that the picture becomes even softer.

I agree, the older Flip cameras are great. If you want to see how the video looks, the two MouseAdventure videos on MousePlanet.tv were shot with an older Flip Ultra.

When I was evaluating whether to purchase a Flip Ultra or a Flip Mino, I though the Ultra's image looked better.
