Ahoy mates !
In a nut shell - I've been impersonating Johhny Depp/ Captain Jack Sparrow for over three years here in NY City - doing charities, fairs and events of all kinds.
But a dream of mine has always been to work for Walt Disney World (as Jack specifically) but I have NO idea how to do this.
I have Checked Disney Auditions regularly and called that ever so unhelpful hot line several times, but neither have been any help.
So guys - where can I find if they need a Jack and how to audition specifically for that role?
Cheers and thanks !

That would be where to start. Also if you could find someone on the inside might help but like above post I really can only suggest these two links.
http://corporate.disney.go.com/auditions/index.html
This covers all Disney but is another official site to check.

Let us know how it turns out. When I retire, I want to move to Orlando and be the guy who tells you how to stick your finger on the finger scanner thingy at the part entrance. That, or be the bag checker. They probably get to see some odd stuff.

Thanks guys for the replies and the compliments!
I have checked both those web sites though and called the hotline but to no avail.
How does Disney wind up getting those guys they have now ??? I've seen quite a few of them in Orlando and most are just terrible - Their voices and mannerisms are just way too generic and generally wrong.
Well if anyone has any ideas feel free to contact me - Jack@SparrowParty.com
I will let you know if anything turns up - but I seem to be going in circles.
Cheers

This may sound crazy, but you can always show up in person (in costume, if you're that daring!) at Disney's Casting Center. It's basically across the street from Downtown Disney. That's where they do hiring, and even if they don't have an opening tailor-made for you, I think that the hiring managers have a good deal of discretion available to them.
FWIW, I think you make a great Capt Jack Sparrow except when you smile with your mouth open. There's something about the shape of your lips and teeth that is distinctly non-Johnny-Depp-like. But still, you definitely look close enough for a theme park job!

Iceman that's a great plan!
If you do this, can you please tell us what happened? I'm hooked on hearing the outcome of your mission now.

Well thanks mate. It seems like a huge gamble though. Considering I live in NY/NJ - though I do have a grandfather down there - it would still be a pretty big risk.
It would be rather interesting to just show up and take the office by storm as it were. I guess I'm more so looking for a more stable way so I don't wind up broke and jobless in FL . Though it is a good idea.
And I never really think I look totally like Mr.Depp - to me it's more about the performance and the imitation - whic the Jacks ive seen really don't have. There was one guy I saw in Orlando that was not bad - but the other were just abysmal.
Here's some more pics of me in the garb though if your interested:

Cheers mates ! ALL the conversation and help is greatly appreciated - some people get really annoyed by the whole Jack Sparrow thing for various reasons so it's nice to not have been shooed away.

I don't believe that 'face characters' (Jack Sparrow or Princesses or the Mad Hatter, etc) are positions they cast for outside of Orlando (but I could be wrong). You just have to find a time when they're doing face character auditions and make your way to Orlando. The Disney website used to have listings when specific types of auditions were going to held. If your current job is at all flexible, I'd just watch when those auditions are going to be held and make your way to Orlando for a couple of days.

Give it Up, you don't even look like Capt jack! The right cloths don't make the face.

I'll keep my eyes out thanks for the advice !
And ls3015 - There are more than enough Jacks that don't even look close - didn't stop Disney from hiring them. I at least look decent - not claiming to look like Depp - but closer then most - besides its about the performance anyway. Thank you for being heartless though.

I could have been less than honest and gave him faults hope. In my opinion He doesn't look anything like a Capt jack, just because he dresses the part.

I thought he looked pretty close actually. Clearly you didn't and that's fine too but that response was just rude. I like it here because people aren't rude to each other. Usually.

Mooniteman-
ls3015 has only 14 posts on this site, and most of them are negative. Pay no attention to the rudeness.
Good Luck to you! I think you look great. :D

Well thank you everyone else for all the kindness - some people get a little weird when it comes to Depp and Sparrow for some reason - so I expected at least one rude comment - but everyone else has been quite nice.
I'll keep me eyes peeled and if I ever get any leads or anything I'll post it. And if anyone here ever finds a lead - ANYTHING - you'd be my hero ! You've all (most of you :D} been a great help so far.
Cheers!

Or you could have been reasonably polite and kept your mouth shut. By the way, it's FALSE hope, not faults. Have a nice day.

Aren't there a couple of pirate-themed dinner shows in Orlando? Perhaps you'd have an easier time getting hired on there (where the opportunities are greater), and then be able to spend time working on getting to Disney eventually.

please guys lets not turn this thread into a rumble - if someone feels the need to be oddly impolite on a DISNEY forum of all places - lets just feel sorry for them and leave it at that.
And the pirate thing in Orlando aint a bad suggestion either. Heck if I lived in gorram Orlando this would be much easier - that why I'm fishing for someone specific to contact so I can simply find out if it'd be worth it.
Cheers!

Mooniteman I have been thinking about this thread. Although my thoughts have not changed, I should have worded my opinion in a different way, rather than just throwing it out at you on a public forum, If you knew me you would not have given it a second thought, for this I do apologize.
Now I do have a question. Have you thought about going to Walt Disney magic Kingdom dressed in your costume and see what kind of attention you would get. You might catch someones eye an get lucky. Without trying you will never know, Just an opinion.

Disney doesn't allow adults to enter the parks in costume, outside of the Halloween parties. Being stopped by security is PROBABLY not the kind of attention you were meaning ;)
