Hated Ghost Galaxy addition. Real evil and Disney don't work for me. :crying:

^^Aw really? I thought it was a different scary than what they've done before, but it still had a Disney feel about it, especially in the beginning in the dark tunnel and you turn the corner and the music starts..and you're facing upwards..gave me chills

In 2 days we rode it 5 times, and each time we found ourselves looking for each section the Ghost would appear trying to notice anything we didn't see before, I recall the Ghost appearing to be climbing up the side on the left on one part

sighh wish I was on it right now

that's the differnence between far east, europe, and US. Tony Baxter said it - many americans don't like really scary (counting EVERYONE together, not segments of population) - funny/silly and scary together is OK - but not just scary. This is in terms of family or multi-audience attractions.

I like scary, I just don't equivocate Disney with evil scary. ;) But I agree, my kids like silly/scary better. :p

It was around 9 or 10 PM. The line was down on the ramp just after the entrance, and of course it was winding all over the roof like I had never seen before. Thank God I had a Fast Pass

Now see the first time I ever rode space Mtn, the line was like that of course it was 1979.:p I was 8 and vividly remember that line.

Well, since we can't do FastPass, cos I'm in a wheelchair, we went to SM first thing we got into the park, after getting my Birthday Gift Card on Sunday. There were several parties already waiting, so we had quite a wait until we were able to board.

Since I read here that the CM suggested seating for the effects to be best was the first row of the second car, we chose those seats, since as it turned out, we were first in line for our vehicle, so we had our choice of seats.

We'd both been really looking forward to the ride, after all the hype and postings here, but we were both really disappointed with it. I felt like we'd gotten onto Mullholland Madness at DCA, since it seemed they sped the cars up and it was much jerkier than normal. Really hard on my knees being smashed against the front of the car and no leg room. My hubby really likes "Mad Mouse" type rides, but he was disappointed with the ride too.

The effects? Not so exciting to us. All in all, we were happy we tried it, to see what all the talk was about, but disappointed in the result. The music? Not so great. I was just anxious for the ride to be over, which doesn't usually happen with the normal SM for me.

Part 2 of our SM experience came after my birthday dinner at Napa Rose. Again, we'd heard that you MUST go see the projections on the mountain at night, so we travelled back into DL after dinner and waited to see what all the talk was about. There were some spooky sounds and several changes of colors on the mountain, but definitely not worth fighting the crowds, going in and going out, to get there for it.

But, at least we experienced it for ourselves, so we know what it's like. Otherwise, we'd always wonder what we missed.

I liked the darkness & didn't mind the music -- but I didn't love the overlay. Since we had fastpasses & didn't have to wait long, it was no biggie (and I hadn't ridden SM in a while - so I was glad to ride).

I wasn't quite able to put my finger on what I didn't like about it until today when I was talking to a co-worker about it. The overlay doesn't seem "Disney-ish." It really seemed more like Universal Studios to me (reminiscent of their Mummy ride, which is one of the lamest rides ever IMO). I would have been much happier if the projections had used Disney villains.

I am a fan of the Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy overlay, glad it is only one month a year, but it is a nice change.

But what about the Matterhorn? Why is "Harold" Disney-like, he is a scary monster on a roller coaster.

Or California Screamin', it is JUST a basic roller coaster with a nice launch.

Or Mulholland Madness, SLIGHTLY themed, but nothing that IMHO is "Disney-ish"....

There are a lot of fans of the Disney Villains, not everything has to be "warm and fuzzy".

I remember like 3 hours. I don't remember where the line started I just remember all the switch backs on that roof.:|;)

The day that SM opened, my ex and two of our friends were in the right place at the right time and got to be the very first guests on it! So my first sight of SM was having NOBODY in front of me at all and getting to ride in the front seat. I'll always treasure that memory! (But, boy have I made up for it by spending hours in line since then! LOL):D

I don't remember how long we waited, but I do remember riding it for my Grad Night in June, 1977. I've forgotten more SM rides than I can count, but I sure remember that one! (I was 17 then, too!)

Forgive me, but I fail to see why that would be necessary. Do we need characters in everything to tell us that we are having a Disney Experience? The Manse, Pirates, Tower of Terror -- they all convey a creepy, sometimes scary mood, and thank god, there are no "characters" on any of their regular storylines.

I think it was a very cool overlay, especially the ghost/monster thing looking at you as you go up the 2nd hill. Very cool.

My only complaint, though, is the ambiance sound on the outside of SM. It's really good and everything but it's too loud! I could hear it from Small World!

Count our family in the minority that does not like the overlay at all. We're not huge Halloween overlay fans to begin with but it was not scary to us-actually kind of annoying. And the eyeball was lame. I wished I had an ipod w/regular SM music to listen to while closing my eyes & imagining it the good way. This was probably our last Oct trip based on where we see crowds & Halloween theming headed. Gonna try Jan/Feb next. I'm happy for those of you who enjoy it. Too bad so sad for us:(

oh and as for SMGG, I thought it was subtle enough to pass as good, I think the best part about it is waiting in line at night when you're so close to the lighting and sound effects. To me it just adds to the "eerieness" that something isn't right about this ride. Even other little things like the main monitor loosing signal and getting static interference add to it.

To be DEAD honest the part the got to me the worst was when it is just pitch black for a few seconds right before you head up the second lift and see the "ghost" for the first time. There is something about the fear of the unknown that gets to me.

which is why I still can't sleep with the lights off after watching Paranormal Activity ;)

I heard from a CM at the ticket booths tonight that the Space Mt. overlay will keep going even after Halloween is over. Does anyone know when they will take the overlay down?

Went on SMGG last Saturday. Thanks to Quackinup, I had a fastpass! :D I liked it, didn't love it, but it was nice to have a temporary change. I made sure to sit in the first row of the second car, everything seemed perfectly timed. It did scare me a little... but I'm a chicken. LOL. I totally screamed at the end... ya that freaked me out. But overall, I liked it.

I actually like this idea...

This was probably our last Oct trip based on where we see crowds & Halloween theming headed.

This was my first Oct. trip, and it may be my last. It was SO CROWDED!! It was more crowded than when I went on Disneyland's B.Day in July. A cast member did mention it was all the halloween promotions. UGH. I didn't even go on HMH because the lines were too long and fastpasses went quick. (I'll be there in December though...)
