Do I have to have the ticket removed from my room key to upgrade?

When I upgraded in October, I had to do it inside a resort at any Guest Relations desk inside of any park, per the CM at the Transit Center Ticket Area Thingie outside of Magic Kingdom. (You know, the place that you CAN'T WALK TO THE MAIN GATE FROM THE PARKING LOT!!!??? That place.)

In other words, the ticket booth CMs could not do this but they directed me to those who could. I ended up upgrading at the GR desk inside of Epcot.

They removed my ticket from my package and it did NOT remove any of my dining plan credits nor the credits for my family. I also was credited the Current Gate Price value of my 8-day park hopper upon upgrading to the AP.

Based on this (and I trust his info - he works at Disney ticket booths!) I would use the ticket first!

(Disneyland operates differently, so I always have to go back and check to verify which park does it which way!)

Okay - so to make sure I've got half of this straight - we'll use the old ticket before upgrading - we checked and the price difference from what we paid to what it's worth now is considerable.

On to the second question now:

What is the difference between the Premium Pass and the Regular Pass?

This is more complicated than applying to graduate school!

That would be the Transportation and Ticket Center.

For WDW, the difference between a Premium Annual Pass and a Regular Annual Pass is the Water Parks. Neither of those two have any blackout dates (like the different levels at DL do).

We're heading to WDW next week, and want to upgrade our tickets to passes...

However you end up doing it, I strongly suggest that you also purchase the Tables in Wonderland card (dumb name, but great card!). It give you 20% off of all table service (and some quick service) food and drink, INCLUDING ALCOHOL! You only have to buy 1 card for your party, and at $75 for a year it'll pay for itself really quickly!

Don't forget DisneyQuest (which can be kinda cool from time to time. Don't you also get some use of the mini-golf sites with the premium pass?

Thank you everyone!

I've got it now - and will remember the Tables in Wonderland card. Thanks again!

True, there are a couple of other things - but I have just about no interest in paying to get into them, so I don't tend to remember them. (And I get confused on what is in the "And More" part of the Water Parks & More part of the MYW tickets vs Premium passes!)

I agree, Cathy. I don't do the premium passes at all, except for this last time when I was granted a premium bicoastal pass for just a couple of months. It's not worth it for me to buy premium on either coast, so I'm glad there are levels to these things.
