I ate a bug once while riding Matterhorn. The quality as well as the quantity were not to my liking.

I did not file a complaint.

So, you've never heard complaints about the food at Walt Disney World or Magic Mountain or Sea World or Knott's or Universal? Interesting.

Six Flags in Vallejo has resorted to serving Papa Johns Pizza, Panda Express, Subways, etc. in their parks. I guess if people complain, it isn't "their problem". ;)

And Johnny Rockets. I did complain to the park when I was there in August about Johnny Rockets.

I'm sad to say that I haven't found too many food items in Disneyland (or Disney World, for that matter) that I CAN'T live without. The outdoor cafe on Main Street seems to be consistently good, especially the potato soup. Believe me......I TRY to find the good food to enhance my happy memories of Disneyland, but I can't. For value, I usually get a burger at California Adventure's Taste Pilot Grille because I can add fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, etc. after I get tired of all the deep fried stuff, or chicken with beans & rice in New Orleans Square. Oh! And Club 33 was pretty good. :)

Shut up!! I am sooooooooooooo jealous right now. I have been wanting to eat there just ONCE for years. Sniff sniff.. I'm not connected to anyone that will book reservations for me. :crying:

Yeah, that was something I hated about Universal on my last trip years ago - so many chain restaurants. I love El Pollo Loco, but I don't want it inside a theme park.

Wish I could, my friend! I was working for Bank of America at some point in my life and I won use of the membership at Club 33 for lunch at some raffle we were having for charity or some such.

I kept the Club 33 metal pen I signed my bill with. I'm naughty. :)

i used to love the food at DL. Moonburgers @ Tomorrowland Terrace. (anyone remember those?) Now everything has been cheapened. I remember when the food used to be themed to the land it was in. Chili beans and soups in Village Haus, etc. There was tuna in Capt. Hooks Galley too.

Now I'm not too fond of the food anymore. I do like the French Market though, as well as the Gumbo and Clam Chowder next to Pirates, otherwise I try not to eat at the resort anymore.

After reading here about these mint julep things, my daughter and I had to go on a hunt. We found 'em and tried them.

Pretty good.... for the first couple sips. Then the mint can be a bit over-powering. :)

I chugged the rest of hers down when she gave up on it. :)

I was reading the thread about what people most like to eat in park, and I saw there was a LOT of repeat stuff, too cool, great to make my list from, LOL!

But are there things that you would say DO NOT eat at the park? Things that don't taste good, are too expensive or otherwise should be skipped? THANKS!!

I really don't know what all the fuss over the Monte Cristo is about...I think its kinda gross.

Sugar free chocolate
I ate it because mom would not eat the sugar free chocolates and becasue I was craving chocolate. It does give you that caramel sensation and the nuts but no zing like real chocoaltes and its has a lot of carbs still. Also it can be a mild laxative. I rather mom have a small tiny piece of real chocolate than that stuff.

I agree, I had that on my first trip to BB and I thought it was greasy and yucky..but everything I have had there since has been great!!

Hmmm. What not to eat?

We're from Texas (land of the spicy) so most of our "do not eat" list is due to bland flavor. However, someone without a stomach of steel may enjoy these meals.

Anything at the Mexican place (Rancho Z)--texture is fine. Flavor is bland.
Blue Bayou's prime rib--too hit or miss for the price. Actually, I'm struggling with the Blue Bayou. We really love the atmosphere but struggle with the food/value issue.
Redd Rocket's pizza/pasta. Bland and often dry.
The old menu at Ariel's (if it hasn't changed in the last year)
pretzels (dd's addition)

That being said, we typically plan our trips around food. :). Life is not the same without a trip to Carnation Cafe, the shrimp salad over at CA, pumpkin fudge, Napa Rose and Storytellers (for dinner).

Ariel's serves an entree such as fish or chicken with sides and an appetizer tray and a dessert tray. The sandwiches and stuff are long gone.

Rancho Cucaracha is added to my list.

REAL home made tamales have no gluten or soy in them. Just corn masa with shortening/lard, baking powder, salt then stuffed with meat, veggies, spices, peppers etc.

REAL fajitas do not have gluten or soy in them.

For those with celiac all you get is the meat from the kids taco place in two corn tortillas that are soft and veggies added. Mine were both torn at the bottom of the fold so I ended up eating the best I could the food. It is good food and filling but not like Don Jose let alone REAL home made food. I went through lots of napkins and had beans, rice, toppings, meat all over me. I guess those Mission tortillas need improving as I usually do not have this kind of explosion of food all over the place.

Yes the food is good and filling but I wanted beef fajitas and cannot understand why Disney can mess up something simple.

I found this discussion entertaining.

I know sometimes things seem awesome to me and the family, but other times not so much. Example would be the dole whips, i've had good ones and bad ones. Same thing with churros and the burgers.

Honestly, we burn so many calories in a day, I think we could eat cardboard with a little sugar sprinkled on top and say it was the best.

Turkey legs just can't even think about eating those. Plaza Inn found it last time I and friends ate there the floor and tables outside very dirt and sticky and none of us will go back. Cokes corner hot dogs are good but they have these chips that we just can't eat but pay for (grease-e-e-). DCA has no were I want to eat and don't eat on that side at all (use to eat at the Castle Hot Dogs they were great but were taken out for the redo of the park) Sorry but Disneyland food has gone down over the years it's not the same I'm sadden to say, and we aren't lucky here to have Epcot and there wonderful food, if you can try some of Disneyland Hotels all three have nice places to eat. The Disney Walk haven't found one of those places I'd return to.

You can order your hot dogs without the chips, FYI. It's not on the menu but just ask for a hot dog by itself rather than the combo. Same goes for the corn dogs at the Little Red Wagon.

Speaking of corndogs, did I see them at the hotdog place at Paradise Pier? I think it was near the Fun Wheel.

I thought the corndogs were now at Bountiful Farms....or whatever that place is called.

I ate breakfast at Riverbelle Terrace last Monday. I liked it very much for an in the park, counter service meal.

For the record. I'm DYING, mouth WATERING for another trip to Napa Rose.

No, that's just hot dogs. As mentioned above, they are at the Bountiful Farms Market for the time being.

Just came back from DL for a last minute halloween trip. We went to the celebration bbq. The atmosphere was adorable and the entertainment was great. People were ordering these adorable looking ice cream cones situated in a cute "floral" type arrangement. They were so cute I ordered them for my kids for $5.99 each. The waffle cone did not have ice cream in it but cupcake cake and frosting. It was so sickly sweet and nasty. We were ready to love these cones because the presentation was so great but avoid these at all costs. My kid got a horrible stomach ache and almost upchucked.

Ugh.. skip the chowder and the veggie chili at the place next to the Boudin Factory! The bread is the real deal--but the soups are not the ones you get at the original Boudin Bakery! NASTY! I was super bummed. Get the bread and some butter instead! It'll fill you up just the same.
