I have enjoyed everything I have ever eaten at Disneyland. Yes, the fact that I am at Disneyland may help a lot.
Sure I have liked some things more than others, but nothing was gross, disgusting, or anything else.

I enjoy reading everyone's opinions, but it comes down to if I am in the mood to eat that item at that time.

OK maybe 'slop 'was a bad choice of words, and I certianly was not trying to offend anyone ( I assume none of you gave the royal OK for them to serve what they are currently serving so I am unsure how me saying the food quility is low offends you.....)
But the fact remains I have heard a lot of negative feedback about the food quality both here on these boards and from people I know in real life. Would it have been better if I had called it re-heated cardboard.

You can point out all you want the fact that I have never eaten there, but why would I want to when I hear so much negative feedback about it.

So I continue to wonder why convience and atmosphere take the place of a good meal and why it's not expected that "Disney" provides the total package.

For the record I am not refering to things like turkey legs, as much as I think those look greasy and inconvienient to eat at a theme park. or Mint juleps that are a love/hate thing... I mean food that is cold or churned out assembly line style that has no real flavor or quality to justify the price.

AND I am sure people eat perfectly fine meals there on a daily basis, I am sure people eat perfectly fine food at subway and mc Donalds every day too. But the food at the park seems to be rather hit and miss and sure does not sound like a product worthy of the corresponding price tag.

So I ask again when you are served sub-par food in the parks do you complain????

THIS is what I mean.... Why is THIS ok?????

I wouldn't eat a burger there. Too cold/boring/nuked what-have-you.

The worst food I have had in the park was a slice pizza at the Pizza Port. Sauce and fake cheese on a piece of cardboard

the cream cheese and jalapeno cheese filled pretzels are yucky. They are good in concept but they are soggy, as if they have been sitting in a steamer all day, which they probably have.

Pizza Omm Yuck Yuck @ DCA.

The burgers at Disneyland remind me of the ones we used to get from the high school cafeteria, not very good.

Blue Bayou: I am not much into veggies but I do know bad veggies and their veggies was over cooked and limp. The rice had over cooked brown bits like when you make a huge pan of rice and the edges get crisped. The fish was YAWN boring. Needed herbs, spices, or lemon pepper for example. They have lovely rice pasta but it is plain and something I would not want to eat again.

Burgers - gross
Redd Rockets - unimpressive at best,
Bakery - blech

Thats just 2 pages worth out of a 10 page thread, I wanted to contiune but Im running out the door to work!

So I continue to wonder why convience and atmosphere take the place of a good meal and why it's not expected that "Disney" provides the total package.

Because I think what you're still not understanding is that it's a matter of PREFERENCE. Just because some people don't like something doesn't necessarily mean that thing is bad. Yep, I've heard about bad experiences at Pizza Port. I've been eating there since it opened and still do on a regular basis, and I've had the pizza and pasta and salad, and I've never had anything bad there. Some people hate mint juleps and some love them with a passion. Who's right? Well, they both are.

Heck, Napa Rose is one the best restaurants anywhere, and yet I've still heard people say they don't like the food there. Just a matter of preference.

I've had plenty of good meals at the resort. I do know certain places where I haven't enjoyed the food so - SURPRISE - I don't eat there anymore. And I've heard other people express how much they've enjoyed those very same places. That's great, they can continue to eat there and I can continue to eat somewhere else, but I don't feel the need to be insulting to them by asking how they can possibly eat such horrid food.

In order to not quote more than I write, I'll just say I agree with cstephens.
Sure there are some less than stellar choices in the park, but surprise (!) no one is forcing anyone else to eat them. I choose the things I like, and some of them I consider to be quite great.

Our son loves the Pizza Port pizza, and although personally I would have to be starving to choke any of it down, his enjoyment of it makes it worth every penny.

Those are those people's OPINIONS. I actually like the Hungry Bear burgers. I've never had a cold one. Many people here LOVE Minnie's Breakfast, I don't. Doesn't mean it is slop, just means for me, the value isn't there. I do enjoy the Plaza Inn's diners. Huge portions, hot food, good, so I will eat there. I haven't had a bad experience at Pizza Port. Someone else has, it is there opinion.

Someone commented the bakery was bad. I haven't had ANYTHING from the bakery that was bad.

Village Haus, I wonder how they keep it open, I don't like it. BUT, doesn't mean its slop, it means some don't like it.

That's a good point you make. We also eat at Chuck E Cheese's but not because of the quality of their pizza.

Put me in the "its a matter of taste" category:

I loved the turkey leg
I loved the jalapeno cheese pretzels!
By looking at the BB and Napa Rose menus, there really isn't anything I'd "like" to try, especially for those prices.
Still haven't had a DLR Churro...I like churros, just not a "must" for me.

As far as anything "I wouldn't order again":
Mozerella sticks at the Golden Horseshoe
Mickey waffles (gasp! I love waffles)
Ariel's Grotto Chicken (blah, not horrible though)

Would eat again:
GK brunch (esp. the mickey pancakes)
TLT breakfast burrito
Ariels Grotto Pasta dish (very yummy)
corn dogs
chicken nuggets at Golden Horseshoe

YOu make a good point... I always say Baskin Robins has 31 flavors because not everyone likes chocolate and vanilla!

That quote was from myself. I am not a great cook like so people on this board but I can cook a decent meal. I would like to know what is wrong with my comments? I paid a lot of money for fish, burnt rice, and overcooked, limp, bland veggies. I expect the same quality as I would find in restaurants out side the parks that charge $30 for dinner. It is sad that the place that I once loved and dreamed of eating at has become available to anyone with the bucks and not worth eating at.

If you gave me the lunch free then I would eat ther and be full but dissappointed. This thread is about food we do not like but have you seen our threads about food in the parks? Someday you might hear me talk about the good things like pizza and carne asada or maybe it is the popcorn and mickey bars. I love the food and my dream is a year at WDW just eating and eating and eating with a few rides and shows thrown in. I wish I could stay at the GCH for a month and just eat and eat and eat.

these are our opinions and as you see we do not agree on everything like them mint juleps.

I just thought I would add my "Things NOT to eat in the park"....

Gum from under the tables.

It's hard to chew and the flavor isn't as bold as I'd hoped.

The implication is that we have no taste, or are too uneducated to know better, and thus are willing to pay for "slop".

It's personal preference. I'm certainly not going to call anyone a hick, for example, for bringing their own food to the Park when they could be eating a to-die-for steak at Steakhouse 55. Bringing your own food or eating off-property are certainly easier choices at DL than they are at WDW, so I'm sure Disney knows they need to keep their offerings tempting in order to keep people (and their money) on-site.

I, personally, have had some of the best meals of my life at Napa Rose. Within the Parks, I have had some very tasty items. Yes, there have been a few things I would not order again, and a restaurant or two that I might not chose to frequent, but on the whole -- considering the huge undertaking that feeding a Park full of guests every day must entail -- I think Disney does well.

.

What I was trying to implicate is..... WHY isnt Disney doing a better job based on the fact that they could and SHOULD!

And I never once said anything about anyone being uneducated so please don't out words in my mouth!

I think Disney has decided that conveinience and in some cases ambience is good enough, but really both of those can go hand in hand with GOOD FOOD!

So when you guys get lousy meals ( and once again I will say I am not talking about something you tried and did not like such as a mint julep or a turkey leg, but when you get cold, or burt or soggy or stale or whatever) DO YOU COMPLAIN????

I am the first to agree that different people like differnt things but cold is cold and mushy is mushy and bland is (usually) bland.

So are you guys communicating with Disney to let them know that when you drop $50-100 on a meal even when its convienient and there are characters everywhere you still expect it to meet a certian level of quality?????

Thats why I am dying to know

To all of you that love it...GREAT Im GLAD you did, for that kind of money, in a place like Disney (which is supposed to be a cut above) you SHOULD love it.

But I want to know what people are doing who feel like the park cut backs are starting to impact the meals they are being served, and in some cases the selection of things they are served.

From what I have read this seems to be a DisneyLAND issue.

I keep beating this dead horse because what I am trying to say is not converting very well to what I am typing and people are getting upset and saying things like its preference, when THATS NOT WHAT I MEAN.... eeeeek!

Well, welcome to the world of disagreements on a message board. Just might give you an idea why other threads might go the way they do at times. ;)

I do get what I think you are saying, that at DL, of all places, we shouldn't have to settle for inedible or even barely passing as edible food. I do agree with that.

No, I have never complained because I have never gotten uneatable (is that a word?) food. I have tried a few things I don't really like - like the turkey legs - but that was because I just didn't like the big piece of rather greasy meat. (on the other hand I love the Monte Cristos and others find them to be blobs of deep fried goo! :p)

I do complain when something is unacceptable (or inedible.) I do comment on service (both good and poor.) If I was served a burnt item, it would be going back. MDM and I know how to make sure we get what is appropriate.

If I were served something at Disneyland that was cold or burned or overcooked yes I would bring it to their attention (like I would at any other dining establishment), but I've never had that experience there.

Your posts are coming across as harsh because it appears that you think Disney is just flinging cold pancakes at everyone, I'm sure it's happened but I certainly don't think it's the norm. And some of things people complain about ARE preferences. If they didn't like the pizza at Pizza Port it could be caused by any number of things- I think pan crust pizza is nasty and if I went in PP expecting a nice slice of think crust I would think the pan crust they served me was gross, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the quality of the food was any less.

Hahahaha, this is hilarious. Go to a thread titled Things Not to eat at the park and use what is posted there to defend a statement that all the food there is bad. Hahahahaha. I have a novel idea! Go to the other thread listing all of the best food in the park. Based on that thread everything in the park is five-star food. Sometimes people crack me up! :eyeroll:

For what it's worth, I have had what I considered bad food at the resort (one of your quotes above is mine). I have also had some of the best and most memorable meals I have ever eaten in my life.

Precisely. I have had...*thinks*...two, maybe three unsatisfactory experiences with food at the Park. Of those, none of them were spoiled, burnt, or served at the wrong temp, I just didn't like them. (I have never gotten the wrong order, and that alone is saying something. I don't have a record like that at my local Jack in the Box, and they serve fewer choices to fewer people daily.) I am not going to complain or send something back for that reason alone; I am going to file the info away and keep it in mind the next time I need to choose something to eat.

Compared with the amazing food experiences I've had at the Park, and the number of things I have to eat while I am there or risk feeling disappointed when it's time to leave (several of which have ended up on other people's "ugh" lists), I think it's a pretty good average.

And Carina, I was not putting words in your mouth. You asked why people might be getting offended, and I told you how the things you were saying could be heard. I'm not really sure why you are so fired up about it, to the point of using multiple punctuation marks and caps, when you have chosen not to partake in the food Disney offers. It's really not your axe to grind, I would think.

Don't want you to die anymore - yes, I have. Several years ago, a number of us went to the Easter Brunch at the Disneyland Hotel ballroom. I'd been going to the Mother's Day Brunch for some time before that, so I knew sort of what to expect. And the food wasn't great, and the service was abysmal. And yes, I submitted a complaint detailing the issues. And I got a call back from one of the foods managers to discuss my comments. I've not gone back for Easter Brunch - that was a special occasion - but we've still gone back for Mother's Day Brunch every year, and we have a lovely time with good food and good service.

Oh, and not every meal requires $50-$100 or has characters running around everywhere. There are a number of nice dining experiences at the resort that aren't very expensive and there's not a single rubber-head character in sight.

From what I have read this seems to be a DisneyLAND issue.

So, you've never heard complaints about the food at Walt Disney World or Magic Mountain or Sea World or Knott's or Universal? Interesting.

That would be me!!

I have noticed a kind of decline in the food at DL. But I haven't been there in a couple of years and I have heard some talk of the food getting better. I recently saw some pics of servings from the French Market that looked especially delicious. I'll find out in a little over a week.
Having said that, I will be eating at DTD more than usual.
