We are renting points for our visit in 2010. I have read that there are dining dscounts for DVC members. Do these discounts apply to those who are renting DVC points? If so, where can I find out about the discounts? Thanks :p

In order to take advantage of the many discounts available to DVC members, the member must provide their identification. These benefits are not transferable. As DVC owners, we get a hefty discount on annual passes, and I can't imagine Disney allowing a guest of a member (even if paying the member) to, for example, buy an AP with the discount. Disney already has information on the household of the member.

This is how it is supposed to go. Discounts are supposed to be applied by showing your DVC member card. However, even as a renter, your room key will also have "DVC Member" on it as well and some eateries will do the discount just by seeing that. But it is not always the case - so do not count on it as renters. In short, if you get a discount, consider it extra pixie dust.

Before I was a member, I rented points and while I never asked for any discounts, I did get a few here and there because of the label on the key.
