We will be at WDW starting Dec 28th and would like to give our 16 daugher the Keys to the Kingdom tour for Christmas but that leaves out our 12 y/o daughter.

Any ideas on fun tours for this age bracket? Or if not a tour some other fun activity. She is not girly girly but not total tom boyish either, loves Tinkerbell but I don't think she would want to do the whole bibbity bobbity bo (sp?) thing. Maybe an updo at Main st Barber shop, do they do that? My DH has suggested the behind the seeds tour which I think she would like, so we may do that.

Any other ideas??

Not the little girl tea, but the real afternoon tea at Grand Floridian would be fab. They also have a mani/pedi deal for tweens.

The Behind the Seeds tour only takes about an hour, and it's inexpensive, so if you do that, I would do something else, too. I have an 11 year old, who is a typical "tween," and thinking about what she would like, I'm thinking that she is so particular about her hair, she would not go for a "dress up" sort of style, although she did like the BBB a few years ago. If we were to do something in the beauty area, it would be a "real" mani and/or pedi, at one of the spas. I've taken my kids to afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian, and that was fine with her,but she likes tea. I know that there are age-restrictions on most of the tours-what about the tours through the Animal Kingdom?

ok, good ideas so far. Thanks.
I know she doesn't like to drink tea so not sure how she would feel about the tea at GF. Mani/pedi might work but dad was suppose to go with her because he has already been on the keys to kingdom tour so I was going to go with the 16 y/o, may have to rethink that.:)

I went over to the AK site to look at tours, but not sure about those tours. If there is not age listed, I assume anyone can take the tour??

I was reading about the DTD characters in Flight and maybe DH can take her on a flight and the behind the seeds tour. I know it is a lot of moving around but that might be ok. Only problem is if Characters in Flight gets grounded for some reason.

Also does anyone know if the reserved seating for wishes will be in effect over New Years? If that is in place we would do that so she has a good view of Tinkerbell flying. That is where we always try to sit to watch any way.

What about letting her pick out what to do for the day? That way, your hubby can go with her. I did that with my younger son this last trip. My older one and DH went to Universal for the day, so the younger one got to pick the park, the rides, and the lunch spot. It went over well.

A water park might be fun too......or minigolf....or (if you went to Blizzard Beach....both!!!).

You can find out about spa treatments for 4-12 year olds called "My First...." at www.relaxedyet.com I think. (That's from memory and can't recall where I read it)....

These are the tours I think your DD could experience.

1 - Behind the Seeds - Epcot. $12 and $16 for an hour.
2 - Dive Quest - Epcot. $175 but must be accommpanied by paying adult and scuba certified. 3 hours.
3 - Seas Aqua Tour - Epcot. $140 but must be accompnaied by a paying adult. 2.5 hours including 30 minute dive.
4 - Mickey's Magical Milestone Tour - Magic Kingdom $25 for 2 hours.
5 - Magic Kingdon Family Tour. $30 for 2 hours.

All the AK tours are for older children, 14 years is the minumum age for one and most are 16+ years. There are others for AKL guests though if you're staying there.

Horseback riding at Fort Wilderness is from 9 year plus for about an hour I think. Can't find the cost.

You can also go to the Contemporary and do a range of water sports (e.g. parasailing / water ski-ing). This is provided by the Sammy Duvall water sports centre.

Hope you find something suitable!

Thanks all,

I talked it over with DH last night and he really wants me to be able to go on the tour with the 16 y/o and he wants to do something with the 12 y/o soooo
I think what we might do is Behind the seeds (DH seems to think that she really, really wants to do this) and Characters in Flight (I think DH wants to do this:|). Then if they still have time, DD will call the rest of the shots for the day.

Scooby, I need to look into the Mickey's Magical Milestone Tour - Magic Kingdom $25 for 2 hours. I think they both would like that. Thanks for the info.
