Thanks Cathy/Drince for the update. We plan to take 2 rolls of quarters and then hope to use leftovers for the penny presses. :-)
Purex Complete 3-in-1 sounds tempting. I wonder if you have to purchase the silly dispenser? This would be an excellent product to use for traveling but I sure don't want to tote the dispenser. Might as well take powdered detergent (enough for 1 load apiece) in snack sized zip locks and another one for dryer sheets enclosed in a larger zip lock.
Thank you so much everyone! Have terrific vacations!:)

It's like a plastic box (3" x 6") that would hold something similar to dryer sheets. I didn't open it up, but I think you could just take a few and put them in a ziplock.

Yes, it would be great to just throw out and buy new and not have to worry about laundry!
Just for the record, this is NOT what I do. I just bring enough stuff to last the entire trip. But like I said, I'm just a single visitor, so it's a lot easier than you moms with husbands and kids and grandparents and volunteer babysitters!!!

They sell a refill pack at Wal-Mart. It's the same price as the dispenser pack but comes with 4 extra sheets. (I think) But, yeah, a zip lock would do the trick too.

Dan -- Lucky you not to have to worry about the plethera of family! :-)
One of the other reasons some people pack for only 1/2 their trip is they do not drive and now flying requires you pay for all suitcases no matter what and so we pare down. My husband has learned to do this and is educating us as he flies to Europe & Asia and packs light and launders things at his hotels.
Be thankful you don't have the worry or need to do laundry -- it's like an albatross around your neck if you love living in the parks vs the hotel and the pool.

That's what I intend to do.

Hi ~
I purchased the Purex 3-in-1 sheets today at Walmart since we will be down there starting this weekend! They are light and easy to pack in the suitcase. I am so happy to have discovered this from this thread! Thanks again! :)

We have been using the 3 in 1 sheets in my home for about two months now and we LOVE them. It makes it so much easier for my teenager to do laundry. Initially I was concerned that they wouldn't get the clothes as clean as liquid detergent and that they wouldn't smell as good... but I haven't had a problem and the clothes come out as clean as when I used liquid and even better smelling. When I washed my bed comforter, I was wondering if one sheet would be enough so I decided to try two and it worked just fine and got the comforter good and clean! The best part about carrying them in your suitcase/carry-on is how nice your clothes will smell when you unpack them at Disney!
My trip is getting so close I can taste it... I think I'm gonna go stick those 3 in 1 sheets in my suitcase now... you can never pack too soon! :D

3rd person doing the 3 in 1 sheets next week. LOL!
Hi, everyone! We were away on vacation for the last two weeks and I am just getting caught up on the message board. We brought and used the Purex 3 in 1 sheets for our laundry (DH did laundry on 3 separate days for us) and they worked great!! Just bear in mind that our clothes weren't really "dirty", just sunscreen, chlorine/salt (from pool or ocean) and sweat - the clothes came out clean and fresh smelling. The sheets were so easy to pack and not expensive.
Definitely recommend and will use them again!

And, as for you, Dan - just know that with a family of six, we checked 4 suitcases and each of us still had one carry-on bag AND we planned to and did laundry during our vacation :) And, we used almost everything we packed (although DH and I both could have left out a couple of shirts and shorts.) But, in addition to the clothes, we had to pack beach shoes for 6 (flip flops, sandals, etc.), tons of sunscreen and various toiletries to last 2 weeks, portable vinyl cooler, beachbag, etc.
We only had the boys pack 4 changes of clothes in addition to what they wore on the trip to SXM.

Just an update. We checked in 3 suitcases for 4 people (save the money where you can). We each had 7 outfits plus the one on our backs for an 11 day trip. We did laundry THREE times. It was so hot (big surprise) that we really went through the clothes, sometimes changing 3 times a day (but usually 2). 3 in 1 worked great! I do need to buy a new collapsable laundry basket. 3 trips of REALLY full baskets caused the seams to rip near the top.

I think I just loaded the stuff in my suitcase to get it to and from the laundry.

Yeah I could do that, but it creeped me out to have the dirty laundry in the suitcase. Shawn did a LOT of jogging while we were there and there was wet, wet, wet stuff.

We usually travel with rolling duffels, and I use one of them for my laundry run. As far as the sweaty, wet, ickier items, I roll them inside something else for the trip to the washer.
I have to be careful about the detergent I use (one of my kids has allergies), so I just take ziplock bags that have a scoopful of our usual detergent with us. I figure when it's gone, there's just that much more space for a souvenir on the trip home!

This reminds me...when I did the resort baggage check-in for my flight home in May, I didn't get charged for my bags. I was flying on United that trip, and I estimated that it saved me $45! (And my bags didn't get lost--they had to travel WDW > MCO > DEN > SFO; I was super pleased!)

I never bought the "dispenser" for the 3-in-1 Purex sheets but the larger "refill" package (which has a self-adhesive closure - like the Oreo cookie bag, KWIM?) that came with 25 sheets (for less money than the dispenser package, which I think only came with 20 sheets?). Anyway, even though I knew we would only do laundry a few times (or, certainly not 25 loads!), I packed the whole package (is very small anyway).
I bought the greatest canvas large laundry tote ("LAUNDRY" is stitched in white on the front of the navy tote) with two simple handles at The Christmass Tree Shop (do you have that store near you?) for about $5.00. It folded in half and I put it on the bottom of one of our suitcases. It made bringing the laundry to/from the laundry facility in our resort a lot easier (for my DH, that is!).

We are driving down in 3 weeks and since ther are 8 of us traveling in one car(moms got a big van so seat space isn't really a problem we all fit nicely, and all travel together a lot so we are used to the "togetherness") but we are trying to cut down on the packing. SInce that is ususally where we run into problems. I am known for over packing. I am begining to realize that if I need it I can buy it there. So I am going to try to only pack enough bottoms for half our trip. I figure this should eleminate at least 1 suitcase, since that eliminates packing another 30 pairs of shorts.(there are 6 of us not including my mom and dad). Also I'm not packing any sweatshirts for the older boys(maybe one for the baby) or myself and DH. That will also depend on if it is chilly when we leave home(coming from near Chicago). I hopefully will only have to do laundry once depending on how hot it is and how messy the kids get. I am however packing enough tops for each day. I don't want to look at all the pics and see the same shirt in all of them! ALready have the 3 in 1 sheets and we pack those big ziplock sports bags. I think they are called XXL bags. These always work out good because they have a handle to carry them and if we have dirty laundry when we go home we can put them in the bag before we put them in the suitcase. Thye hold a lot.
On a side note anyone know where the LAundry facilities are at All Star Sports?
