Does the Disney Cruise Line ever have last minute specials? What's the best way to hear about these or other special rates? I often see cruise specials for other companies, especially recently, but never see any DCL sailings listed.

Momof three mentioned in the Halloween cruising thread that they have last-minute deals for Florida residents. I don't know if they open them up to all or not, though.

The only ones I know about are the Fl resident rates which are hit or miss. There really seems to be no pattern as to why some DCL are offered and others not. All I can guess is they are made available when the ship isn't filling up. Often they are only offered around a month or so before the cruise. I have my travel agent watching for me now. Although my kids found another TA site that post Fl resident rates daily. They check every day lately. Right now I am noticing that the FL rates are pretty low. In the past we got better rates booking a year or so in advance. I am just guessing but I think the rotton economy might be a big factor in this recent change.

I am hoping for a Halloween DCL but I will only do it if we can get a great Fl rate. As of today the Fl rates are only posted for the three days sailing by 9/24. This summer the trend has been that Disney adds Fl resident rates at the end of the week for one more week. I only live a three hours drive to the port. If the rate is decent and available then will sail. It a waiting game but one worth playing for us.

Guess I'm out of luck if they only offer FL resident rates.

They also offer military rates! If you or someone you are traveling with is active or retired they can receive these rates!

Disney Cruise Line does not generally offer last-minute rates, as is often the case with other cruise lines. That's not to say you can't get onboard, though. Last November, my dad decided to come with us on the Thanksgiving Double Dip cruise, within two weeks of sailing. I was able to book a category 12 stateroom for him. Was it cheap (compared with what it would have cost to book earlier)? No. But he was on the ship with us, and, at the time, that was what mattered.
