View Full Version : Join Team MousePlanet for the 2009 CHOC Walk in the Park
Hi everyone,
I am excited to announce that Team MousePlanet is registered for the 2009 CHOC Walk in the Park, Sunday October 18, 2009.
Our team members (with the VERY generous support of MousePlanet readers) raised over $5000 for Children's Hospital Orange County during the 2008 Walk, a very impressive result for our first year. I think we can get more Walkers and more participants this year, and I've set our 2009 team fundraising goal at.... $10,000.
CHOC has really upgraded their Web site this year, and it's even easier for you to support team MousePlanet. You can:
Walk with Team MousePlanet - register to walk with us at the October 18th event, and earn prizes as you meet your fundraising goals (click here (https://www.kintera.org/faf/reg_new/register.asp?ievent=314791&lis=0&kntae314791=6299EB23354D46D494404A55C5DF8193&jt=3479193&teamsName=Team+MousePlanet)). Team MousePlanet Walkers will receive a MousePlanet baseball cap at the Walk.
Raise money with Team MousePlanet - register as a "Sleeping Bear," (someone who is raising money, but can't attend the Walk in person), and earn prizes as you meet your fundraising goals (click here (https://www.kintera.org/faf/reg_new/register.asp?ievent=314791&lis=0&kntae314791=6299EB23354D46D494404A55C5DF8193&jt=3479193&teamsName=Team+MousePlanet)).
Sponsor a specific Team MousePlanet walker - donate to the Walk Account of a Team MousePlanet Walker and help them earn prizes (click here (https://www.kintera.org/faf/search/searchTeamPart.asp?ievent=314791&lis=1&kntae314791=6299EB23354D46D494404A55C5DF8193&supId=264364775&team=3479193) for a list of all current Team MousePlanet walkers) The CHOC site now includes a full list of all team MousePlanet walkers.
Sponsor Team MousePlanet - a new option this year! (click here (https://www.kintera.org/faf/search/searchTeamPart.asp?ievent=314791&lis=1&kntae314791=6299EB23354D46D494404A55C5DF8193&supId=264364775&team=3479193))
Thank you for your support!
AVP

For those who usually walk with the VoluntEARS team, I heard this morning that Disneyland Resort Annual Passholders will not be invited to join the VoluntEARS team this year. CHOC sent out an e-mail to some returning walkers with that information, and I have since confirmed with Disney that registration for the VoluntEARS team is limited to Disney cast members and their family & friends, using a special code available only to CMs.
I know a lot of people are disappointed by this, but remember, it's all ultimately going to the same cause. Join Team MousePlanet, join a team with your church or school, or even start your new team. Just don't drop out, because the CHOC kids need us all.

I'm in! Go Team MousePlanet!

Thanks to Maus' suggestion, I registered last night for Team MousePlanet. Can't wait to meet the rest of the team.
Anyone attending some/all of D23 Expo next month?
Yay, Christina! Look forward to meeting you.

I am registered for the walk and I'd like to join the Mouseplanet team. do I need to do anything through the CHOC registration site or just let you guys know here?
Looking forward to it! I've wanted to participate for a few years now and I finally got my schedule in order.

I know there is (or should be) a way to add yourself to a team once you've registered, but I don't know how to do that with the new system. If you can't find a place to do that, please let me know and I'll see what I can do.

I love the way that they've upgraded their website system! It's so easy to send e-mails to friends for donations, and to thank them after they've sponsored you. Keeping track of where you are on your goal is simple. Your personalized donation page is easy to set up and maintain and publish on social networking sites.
Come on and join us! It will be a fun, inspiring morning and you'll see the park as never before!

Just a request - on the list on the first post that's being updated with new members, is it possible to add on their name a link to their sponsor page so that if we want to sponsor a particular person, we don't have to figure out how to do that? Thanks.

It's one of the great upgrades they made this year.

I just registered - I think as a "sleeping bear" or some such thing.
As it turns out, my son was seen in the CHOC ER the evening of the half marathon this year. I was amazed at how wonderful these people were! They were compassionate, caring, knowledgeable people - even at 2AM!

I couldn't even tell you the man's name. After doing the half, dealing with a bit of heat exhaustion, not getting much rest - then the stress of having to get OFF the plane, find an ER (knowing we had no luggage, it remained on the plane) and getting my son's health attended to - staying up until 2AM really kicked my petoot. On the plus side, the taxi driver that we had in the middle of the night took us on an "Indiana Jones" type ride through Anaheim! Holy COW, that guy was either doing 75 or 0..... that woke me up! I had been smart enough to reserve our room for an extra night - so at least we had a place to go rest before heading back to the airport....
I have never been so glad to see my pillow.....

Wow! sounds very stressful. I hope everything is ok now?
and hopefully you have recovered from the half and your heat exhaustion.

Yup - all is well! Thanks for asking!

The shiny new CHOC Web site isn't doing a great job of notifying me when new members register, so I wanted to point out that we're up to 7 walkers and have raised $700 as a team so far. We've got about a month until the Walk, so there's lots of time to raise money for CHOC!

May I make another request for consideration? Since a lot of people don't use their real names to register on MousePad, any way to include their screen name with their real name on the list on the first post?
Why am I posting like this is the questions thread?
Since a lot of people don't use their real names to register on MousePad, any way to include their screen name with their real name on the list on the first post? I *think* I got everyone matched correctly, but I don't know screen names for Mark and Rose.

AVP, what should we do with the checks we are receiving?
AVP, what should we do with the checks we are receiving?I think you can mail them into CHOC can't you - isn't there a form now on the Web site? If you want to bring them by the store I can take them in when I do the registration.
