I just got back from a 3 week trip to California, and I spent 5 days at the Disneyland Resort. Boy, was I impressed! From parking in the Timon lot, and getting total respect, to being able to ride the Monorail, using that ramp they have.
I use a Companion 2 Scooter, and it is my wheelchair. I have Muscular Dystrophy that didn't come on until I was 35. I had an Annual Passport from 1985 till 1993, and didn't have disability issues then.
The cast members all treated me with total respect, not one time did a cast member roll their eyes, act annoyed or anything like that. I had total access to every ride, attraction and show. Disney is top notch.
The only problems I had with anywhere in either park, was in Toontown. That one car that is on the sidewalk as a prop, over by Gadgets Go Coaster. It blocks sidewalk access. I tallked to a cast member at City Hall, and he said that the Disney ADA engineers had gone over that and found it acceptable. Then, in the Cartoon Spin, they make people in "ECV"s park and walk about 40 feet through the line, and they don't take into account that some of us may not be able to. I think as soon as they saw me walk they realized that that policy may not have applied to my situation, but it was a pain either way.
Other than that, I loved my visit. The parks are incredible, and NOT falling apart as some people would have you believe. Cynthia Harris is doing a great job, as far as I am concerned!
