As Samwise Gamgee once said, "Well, I'm back." And while I will write a trip report sometime in the next few days, I do have a few little updates to report.
1) I can't believe no one has spilled the beans on the new Stacy show! (If someone did report this, I missed it.) Yes, it's called the Disney Must Do's. It's a more adult Stacy, a more subdued Stacy, with highlights and a few deleted scenes from her more flamboyant days, but she is as hot as ever! The only downside is that it's only a 15-minute show, and they leave out the newest of the "must do's"! They totally ignore Toy Story Midway Mania!? It's hard to imagine. Anyway, I thought this was big news.
2) I was able to get a shake at Sci-Fi Dine-In as my drink; I had heard that this was not "doable". It could be I got lucky and had a very easy-going server, but boy was it good. It's Verda ice-cream by the way (I think I have that name right; it's the same brand as the milk they sell at the resorts).
3) The memorial stones/bricks at WDW are looking shabby. As much as I wanted one, I'd hate to think I'd spent all that money for letters that faded away after a few years -- it's a shame.
4) They are re-painting the buildings at Pop Century. The color (at least in the 50s area) is nearly the same color, but it is slightly different. The grounds look great, as usual, and they work hard to keep it that way. My only observation was that the doors to the rooms looked in need of paining, but I'm sure that once they paint the buildings, they'll address the doors (get it, address the doors, hah!).
5)Kone Cafe -- ZOMG! The bread! Wow! More to come on this in my trip report.
6) The buses were incredible this trip. The only bus we had to wait for was the Typhoon Lagoon/DTD bus. I think they only had one bus running, on a 20 minute loop. Other than that, (and one night at Epcot following Illuminations when a long line queued up), there was always a bus waiting for us or less than 5 minutes away; but even that one night at Epcot, we only waited about 15 minutes before we were on a bus and heading back to Pop.
7) They previewed the 4th of July fireworks on the night of the 3rd, which was great because we just happened to be at MK the night of the 3rd, and we were lucky enough to watch from just outside of the park; lucky because we were able to see all the fireworks that were being fired off, not just those launched near the castle. We also caught a bit of HS's fireworks from our room at POP.
8) The weather was incredible! Many days were spent under a nice, coolish cloud cover, especially the first few days. Only one or two days were even marginally uncomfortable, and even on these days, the late afternoon cloud build up and rain showers (nothing hard until the last day for us) cooled things off considerably. I can't believe our luck. 2 years ago we thought we'd die each and every day; not at all the case this time around.
9) New fried shrimp dinner at Columbia Harbor House!
10) Loooooooved the new Hall of Presidents, and not just because of the new addition.
That's all for now. Trip report to follow soon.
