There is a very small chance that I will be able to go to TDL and TDS very very soon. What I need is some centralized information. I have read the trip reports and all the other information. I hope someone here can help.

what airport is closest to TDL and TDS
are TDL and TDS located right next to each other or does Disney transportation take you to either park?
are there any less expensive motels around the TDL resort or is the DLH the only one?
What airport do you suggest flying into?
How are the crowds this time of year?
How much (American) money should be allotted for food and other souviners?
How much money (American) should be allotted for travel from the airport to the resort?
realistically, how much time should be allotted to see both parks (having an AP to disneyland, is there a lot of differences?)

Thank you so much for all your help!!!!!!!!

I suspected that this might be a chance to see Tim. That would be great. You would get to see him and get your Disney fix all at the same time. I hope it happens!!

I hope you get some replies. My husband and I are going to Tokyo D-land in June. It sure is hard to get info. Do you know if there is any place to buy tickets before you go?

Hi All,

Hope this information helps. I was there in Sept / Oct 2001 just after the opening. I also have videos on www.barrybedford.com if you're interested......

(Q) what airport is closest to TDL and TDS
(a) The main international airport in Tokyo is Narita and this is about an hour outside the city center and Disney Resort. You can get a bus direct to the resort and this will leave you at your hotel (if you're staying on-site). You can also get the Narita express train into the city too.

(Q) are TDL and TDS located right next to each other or does Disney transportation take you to either park?
(a) The two parks are side by side but their respective entrances are on opposite sides. If coming from the city center you get off the train at JR Maihama Station. This station is beside Disneyland and you can walk to the entrance from here. If going to DisneySea you transfer to the monorail at the Resort Gateway Station. If you're staying on site you'll use the monorail all the time to get from park to park and to your hotel.

(Q) are there any less expensive motels around the TDL resort or is the DLH the only one?
(a) Apart from the Disney Amabassador and MiraCosta hotels there are the original Offical Partner hotels (a bit like the Disney Village hotels in WDW). These inclide Sheraton, Hilton, Dai-ichi, Tokyo Bay and Sunroute Plaze hotels. I stayed at the Shearton and by booking in advance got a good deal. I've also stayed in Tokyo city but it's a commute over to the resort.

(Q) What airport do you suggest flying into?
(a) Narita (not sure you have a choice!)

(Q) How are the crowds this time of year?
(a) From what I can gather from different sites TDSea is always busy. It's also winter there too.

(Q) How much (American) money should be allotted for food and other souviners?
(a) Hard to judge but Japan IS expensive. There are plenty of places to eat in the city center which are good value.

(Q) How much money (American) should be allotted for travel from the airport to the resort?
(a) I'll check this out for you as I have most of the details written down somewhere.

(Q) realistically, how much time should be allotted to see both parks (having an AP to disneyland, is there a lot of differences?)
(a) Spend as much time as you can!!!! Tokyo Disneyland is quite similar to WDW's Magic Kingdom. There are different layouts on rides which makes it unique. Pooh's Hunny Hunt is a must and I loved their version of Splash Mountain and also Dreamlights Parade. Tokyo DisneySea is amazing - what more can I say!!!!!

Check out the videos on my site. There's a couple of the monorail around the resort which gives a good sense of the scale and size of the place. I mainly focus on TDSea as there is no place like it anywhere else.

Hope this info helps!

The videos are awesome! I enjoyed watching them. Thank you!
What about food? What is it like? Very American? Was the transportation to the park from the city easy to find your way around on?

this is going to sound petty but I need to ask anyways.

pixiepal, could you please start your own thread about this? It is painful for me to see keep poping up on unread threads.

Mods can you please lock and or prune this and purge all the helpful info into a new thread if possible? please?

thanks!

In addition to the two Disney hotels and the five "official" hotels, there are also the 10 "Good Neighbor" hotels. They are not within walking distance but they all feature complimentary shuttle service. I believe most of them are in Tokyo rather than on Tokyo Bay.

I would assume that since they are not directly located on Tokyo Bay, they would be *much* less expensive to stay at. I remember a MousePadder posted a long time ago about staying at one of these hotels and he was very happy about it.

If you go to our Review System and drill down to the Tokyo hotel section, you'll see which hotels are included in which group.

Finally, the official Tokyo Disneyland website is actually very good about providing information and links to the websites for all of the various hotels.

Good luck!

Sheila

I'm sorry your plans didn't work out, and that it appears you will not have the opportunity to visit Tokyo Disneyland. I understand this must be upsetting for you.

While we usually close threads at the request of OPs (original posters), I am not going to approve your request this time, because we do not wish to stifle the flow of normal conversation. There are no flames or trolling in this thread -- I'm sorry, but just because you are upset, we are not going to stop valid conversation.

Wow! So sorry! This was my first time to post. I will certainly think twice next time!
Thanx to anyone who offered info!
