My husband and I have been to WDW many times, but this will be our first with our then 10 month old twin boys:fez: Being first time parents in general, we aren't sure what they will enjoy "seeing." I know they will be too young to remember anything, but I would love suggestions from other parents who have been to WDW with very young children in regards to what their children enjoyed while there. We will be going in August, 2009. I know it will be hot, but I am a school teacher so this is the only time I can go.

Do they like characters and do they show interest in Playhouse Disney in the mornings? I would let them watch the shows now so they will recognize them in the parks.

I would plan a couple of character meals for lunch times, or really late breakfast times. That way you get your character interaction, but the timing gets you in an air conditioned restaurant during the middle part of the day. Then I would head back to the hotel for a mid-day break. I don't normally believe in leaving the park, but in August I would make an exception.

I would make sure to take watter bottles so all of you can stay hydrated and make sure your strollers have shade canopies. Take sunblock for all of you, even if they stay in the strollers. The worst sunburn my son ever got was at an airshow and he was never out from under his stroller hood. The sun reflected off the pavement and gave him a nasty burn on his face and shoulders.

As for park touring, my son was 18 months old his first WDW visit. He stayed in his stroller a lot. He loved any characters he could get his hands on. He also liked the Fantasy Land rides, including the Tea Cups. He loved Kilimanjaro Safari at AK. He wasn't big enough to appreciate Epcot, but he loves it now. The same goes for Hollywood Studios. He liked Voyage of the Little Mermaid and the Muppet Vison 3D show, but that was about it.

My twins are now 7 years old but my youngest is 1. At that age we did alot of shows, especially anything with music. We haven't been back to WDW since 2006 but my boys LOVED the Lion King show at AK. I don't know if that is still there, but anything like that is usually a hit. Playhouse Disney is great for that age. Also Pooh, Peter Pan, Small World...things like that are fun for them to look at. I bet they'd love Country Bear Jamboree too. Parades are a bit hit as well.

One thing that saved us when our twins were tiny was our slings. My husband would carry one and I would carry the other while we pushed our 2 year old around. We had some great ones that kind of sat under their bum while they sat on your hip. They could see everything that way (they could never see well in our triple stroller) and it was easier to get on and off rides.

My twins just turned two, but have gone twice, once at 8 months old and once at 20 months.

For the most part, they loved the play area in Toontown, A Bug's Land area of DCA, Playhouse Disney, Small World and Pirates. They also loved watching the parade.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. My biggest fear is that the boys won't sleep at night. They still aren't sleeping through the night, and I'm so afraid they will just be getting to do that, and then we will take them away. I guess we will just have to work through it :p It will be so fun to see their reactions to all of the things you suggested like the parades and IASW! We are so looking forward to this trip!! Too bad we have to wait until August, but we wanted them to be that much older!

Hello, I also have all the same questions you have a have twins a boy and a girl. We are taking them to WDW for their 1st birhtday in Nov. I have never been with kids so it should be fun. Some things I have read that I liked was when you are packing to go to the park but everything in zip lock bags. That way then you go threw the bag check they can see everything. Also read that disney was a unspoken baby asleep meaning if the baby is asleep in the stroller we can stay in the stoller in the line. I do not know about this. I was a CM on the college program and never saw this happen. Well good luck on your trip.

WDW with children is amazing. Everyone told us last fall our toddler (2) girls were too young. Needless to say I do not seek the advice of others when it comes to my beauties, and we were there 10 days. They had a ball, loving the water parks, parks, characters.

We did the sleep in thing, and allowed for breaks/naps. Perfect time to recharge. Oh yeah, with little people it takes so much longer to be ready, so we :)avoided park hopping. We found it to be an unneccessary expense. Also we packed 2 cardboard boxes full of their stuff, floaties, snacks, everything for them. Most of it was edible so when it was time to go home, we went back minus two check ins. Brought our own car seats, and double limo stroller. Not only do I like their own things, but it saved alot. Over $300 just on the stroller alone, and although a hassle with the car seats, once there in, they stay for the whole trip. ENjoy your dining time, parade and show time. We have the same 10 days planned for this fall. Have a ball.
