Does anyone know how much the CD is to purchase? Is this a good deal? Are there ever any "specials"? Can they be pre-ordered? I'm trying to decide if this is a good investment or not. Thanks for the help.

I believe its still $99 to pre-purchase. That's the price I paid last fall. I think its a great deal. We stopped at every photographer we could find and they all did a few shots. Some even got really into the poses, especially the ones we saw more than once at different locations during our visit. In the end we were able to come away with a few hundred photos where one of our arms wasnt sticking out holding the camera back at us lol.

If you think you'll want a lot of photos, then go for it.

To purchase it at the parks, its like $130. At times, they run a special where they give you a free print or two when you purchase the CD there at the parks.

While I tend to do the pre-order, I try to modify as many of them at the parks as possible and save to our card. I do that because there are certain borders, etc, that can only be found at the parks. Once modified and saved, they will be included on that CD regardless of where you purchase the CD.

Yup, $99 on pre-purchase, and $129 if you get it after the fact. If you edit pictures with Disney borders and such at the PhotoPass site, you get copies of both the original and the edited photo.

We got it on our trip in February. Coming from the west coast, I didn't feel like carting my Nikon DSLR across the country, so it worked out very well.

This year was the first year we even had any pictures taken by Photopass. The pictures they took were nice especially the night time pictures. My own night time pictures were not as good. They took a couple pictures of my kids pretending to hold a baby Simba and holding a sword to pretend to be fighting Captain Hook. When we looked online a animated Simba and Captain Hook were in the pictures with my kids. Had I known that they did those kind of things I would have searched out more Photopass picture spots! We didn't get that many pictures to make it worth purchasing the CD. You can buy a picture for $12 for a 5x7.
Unless you have them take a lot of pictures it may not be worth it because it is the same price no matter how many pictures they take. You can get online and edit and add borders. They even have stock pictures of the characters and parks you can put on the Cd or they comes with it, one of the two I can't recall. If your planning a special trip, first time, kids first trip you might consider it but get a lot of pictues taken!

Before we went, there was an offer for the PhotoCD at $59 -- not sure if it was a pre-order offer or not. I was very excited about this & we took a lot of PhotoPass photos. I went to the booth in Magic Kingdom our last day & saw the CD offered at $129.

When I got home and logged on, I still saw the $59 offer until I logged in -- then it came up at $129. Grrrr. I'm still planning to get it but I'm annoyed at the difference in price.

I didn't realize there were borders you could only get in the park. :( Not sure it would have made a difference though. By the time I went to the photo place, DD was exhausted (getting a cold, as it turned out - and a nasty one at that) & I didn't want to spend time goofing with photos while DH & DD twiddled their thumbs. I've been having fun adding borders online. I'm trying to figure out if I can fit in a DLR trip within my 30 day window & get some DLR photos added...

Would someone mind posting the link to the photo pass side with the pre-order discount? Thanks!

The website is http://www.DisneyPhotoPass.com but I'm not sure how to go about pre-ordering the disc. I found out (through the DLR section of these boards) that the $59.99 price applies only if the last PhotoPass added to your account is from DLR. If the last PhotoPass added to your account is from WDW, the $129.99 price applies.

Thanks! I looked all over the site, and I don't see any offer to prepay for the CD at $99. It's $129. Last year, I bought the $99 prepay, and I thought I got it from the regular site, but maybe there was a special link that I don't remember.

$59 is the DLR price. if you have DLR cards in your account (the card numbers are married to the account even long after the photos disappear), it shows up as $59. once you put in WDW pics, the price goes up.

It says you have to pre purchase, but we waited until we got back to see if we actually took a lot of photos. So I would say don't pre-order it until you are back and positive you have enough pictures to justify the price. I say that because when we are there in August there are not as many photopass CMs out and about as there is in November. In November they were everywhere!

Stop at every Photopass opportunity and get as many as possible - I'd even stop again at the same place with a different photopass photographer. Some are good, some . . . not so much. I was kinda disapointed by some of our photos and wished I'd checked them at the parks before we left. Ho Hum.

When you get home, add all the boarders to all the photos (or at least the ones you liked). This way you have options later to print. Add graphics, signatures, etc. Remember, some of the boarders may be cropped off when they are printed at places like Costco due to the aspect ratio. Kinda sucky, but I haven't figured out how to fix this on the Photopass photos yet.

Another thing . . . go check out Darkbeer's site - stitchkingdom.com He has some GREAT photopass tips and places to find the "magic" photos!! I'm glad I knew to ask the photogs in certain places! I got to hold Tink in front of the Castle, and hold baby Simba in two different places at AK. We just didn't get to the right spots for Stitch in the ground or Mickey on a bench at HS. Bummer! There's also a cool one near Soarin' with the characters on a hang glider, but I hardly saw any photopass people at Epcot when we were there. Anyway, it's something to be aware of.

this is probably a question that has been asked millions of time, but how do you add cards to an account, do you just get a new card and then take it to one of the photoshops and ask for it to be added to a certain account?

When you register your card online you associate it with your account. You can associate multiple 'active' cards with your account. You'll always have the same account - just each visit that you get a new card(s), you'll associate them with it. But after you associate the card with your account, that starts a 30 day clock for 'going away'. So right now I have an account, and it's totally empty of pictures :crying:
