With all due respect to Mr. Scopa, well, personally, I'd say his plan for AK seems a bit, well, stretched. My own plan for half a day would be:
1. Select a day on which AK has early entry.
2. Eat breakfast at your hotel, about 7:00 AM, so you can make it to AK as early as possible
3. Take a leisurely walk back to Kilimanjaro Safaris, taking the time to look at the animal exhibits along the way. Deal with it (and its queue) as Mr. Scopa advises.
4. Take the train out to Rafiki's PlanetWatch. It's not just for the little ones; indeed, I can't imagine the little ones getting nearly as much out of it as the adults. Spend plenty of time; you can probably observe one or more veterinary exams and a few other animal care demonstrations while there.
5. When you get back, check the schedule for "Flights of Wonder," and the wait for "Dinosaur."
6. Optional: If you've never seen "It's Tough to be a Bug," and you don't suffer from any conditions that might preclude it, go ahead, though it might be enough to stretch you past half a day. But if you're a frequent visitor to Disneyland/DCA, don't bother; you've got one you can visit any time you want.
7: Optional: If you're wearing a raincoat and a sou'wester, you might try Kali River. Or not. I haven't.
As I see it, Rafiki's PlanetWatch is much better than Mr. Scopa gives it credit for, while I haven't seen much reason to bother with Festival of the Lion King, Tarzan Rocks (the very title sounds like something I want to be far away from), or Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade; as to the Maharajah Jungle Trek, I'm not even entirely sure what it is, but it sounds like entirely too much walking, particularly since by the time I make it to AK, I'm usually walking on several blisters.
Then, head over to MK (stopping for lunch before leaving, after arriving, or on the way; just remember, 1900 Park Fare does not serve lunch!
