We are going to Disneyland next week-DD is 4 and I'm sure she'll want a souvenir of her trip. Any suggestions about how to maximize my souvenir dollar? I don't want to break the bank but would like to be able to get her something special.

My girls like stuffed animals. Also they like polly pockets. The polly pocket princesses (also at the Disney store are like 16). But Stuffed toys start as low as 7 dollars or so for the smaller ones. Also must get ears, embroidery is free.

Since I have several children and the parks are expensive I always find such cute things on ebay and get them long before we leave and pack them. when we get there I surprise them , saves me tons of money !! And the stuff I get is brand new so they get a new toy, stuffed animal or clothing for very little and thats a good thing for us.

See the thread on Best $10 in Disneyland (or something like that) - the most popular suggestion were the pressed (our kids called them squished) pennies you can collect. And every kid should at one point get ears or at least a baseball cap...

You could make a trip to the Disney Character Warehouse, which is up Harbor Blvd. about five miles. I believe you can take a bus to there if you don't have a car. That would certainly stretch your souvenir dollar.

Another idea would be to get her an autograph book with a spot for pictures. She can get signatures during the trip, and you can put the pictures in after the trip.

My DD5 got as her souvie last trip (October) a baby Marie cat that came wrapped up in a blanket. When she was 3 or 4 she picked out a baby Pluto also in a blanket. She STILL plays, loves and sleeps with both of these items as does my 5 year old niece whenever she comes over so I recommend those. I think it was $20.

The pennies. They are the best thing ever. We have been collecting them for several years now. We carry our little books with us every trip to make sure we don't get duplicates. It is like a treasure hunt to find the machines through out the parks and collect them. For 51 cents each they are cheap and fun.

When my daughter was little she loved Marie so much and had so many that she had to name them. I can't remember them all, but there was big marie, baby marie, little marie, march marie, sleeping beauty marie, pink marie, and many more, but I can't remember them all.

Must have ears! We also have been known to bring a white baseball cap and a Black Sharpie. Then have every character sign it and be sure to take a picture of the little one with the character. Date the back and you have a memento that will last forever. Wonderful times when ;you get home looking at the pictures, finding the signatures on the hat.
And remember to get her first visit pin at Town hall.

Our must haves are ears and some new stuffed Mickey. Donald is his favorite when we are at home but as soon as we get to the park he wants Mickey stuff. Both my nieces & my son got a baby character w/ the blanket last time this is a big hit!

oh gosh! all this talk and even though i'm 22years old i'm tempted to get a stuffed baby disney character wrapped in a blanket the next time i go!!!:D

My kids love the baby characters in the blankets. My DD is 10 and my DS is 5, and both play with them all the time.

Marie must be a favorite of so many, when we took our DS for the first time when he was four that was all he wanted. She was so dirty by the end of the week after watching fireworks going on every ride and playing on the sidewalks while we waited for the parade. He is now 13 and our youngest DD has now inherited her.

I have to say my ears have been my best souvenir ever. The first time I got to go to Disneyland it was the 25th anniversary. I still have my ears. When I went back to Disneyland for the 50th, I had to make sure I got my ears to go along with my other ones. I also got some for Christmas. They have become my thing to get while there.
I believe the ears are under 15.00. I'm not sure how much the ones are that you "create".

The "make it yourself" ears will vary in price due to the custom nature. The "ears" themselves are like $3 - $5 each (and they're sold singly). The hat is about the same IIRC. Then there's all sorts of patches and other accessories you can put on there from like $2 - $5. So if you blinged out everything you could be looking at a $20+ hat.
Personally I will only buy merchandise at the resorts if it's ONLY available at the resorts. If I can get it at my local Disney Store (and I still have one thankfully) I'll buy it there because stuff goes on sale A LOT. Thankfully there's a lot of park exclusive merchandise these days, just look for the "exclusive" tags.
I also recommend Post-Cards for an inexpensive souvenier, they go great in scrap-books, and usually have terrific photography. Then again I have a nice, unsorted collection of post-cards.
Pressed Pennies are awesome, as you can tell from my beginner's thread, I'm a fan.
Vinylmations are the coolest new souvenier, and you can ONLY get them at DLR or WDW. They are blind-boxed and $10 each (for the 3" ones), so there's a drawback, but if you get one you don't like you can always trade it away.

How about one of those compact facecloths with the year and characters printed on them? Only about 3.50, easy to pack, and she can remember her trip with every bubble bath! We bought ours last week from Star Traders located between Space Mountain and Star Tours.
