First, I was wondering if anyone knows what Philharmagic took the place of in Fantasyland? This was my second time seeing it, and I thought it was even better than I remembered. I would've gladly sat through that a second time, had my travel companions been up for that!

Second, while I love Muppet Vision and would be sad to ever see it go, it sure seems dated and not very high quality (the actual movie itself) especially when compared to something like Philharmagic. Has anyone heard if a big refurbishment might be planned for that one? Does anyone think it's an attraction that could likely be replaced with something newer and more upgraded?

ONE of the things that had been in that location (may not have been the immediate predecessor of Philharmagic, though) was a Lion King show that pre-dated The Festival of the Lion King in AK. You're right, I love Philharmagic, too :D.

Don't know anything about a re-furb of Muppets, but there's always that possibility. I do think it has one of the best pre-shows around !

One thing to realize about both the Philharmagic and the Muppets is that both of the movies are not dated content-wise. Since they are both "animated", you aren't going to have clothing that is out of style or references that don't make sense anymore. That is really what can doom a great presentation, like the late Cranium Command at the Wonders of Life. That film was very dated with the clothes the live kids wore and the live actors that made up the parts of the brain.

As for the film quality of the Muppets, that might be true and there could be a new production in the future (especially for us poor souls who don't go anymore because we could recite the script). But here's hoping they keep it timeless like the original.

I could be wrong, but I think Philharmagic was the Legend of the Lion King previously. Philharmagic is one of my "new" favorites at MK!

I was never really a fan of the Muppets (just a little after my time) but enjoyed the show when we saw it. I remember there were these two rather burly and loud guys (late 20s) sitting next to me and was so pleasantly surprised when they thoroughly enjoyed the Muppet show and really laughing with the show, not at it. Philharmagic is a family favorite and we never miss seeing it on a trip to WDW.

And before Lion King, wasn't it the Mickey Mouse Revue or something like that?

I agree that the quality of the Muppet 3-D movie is suffering, but I hope they'll go in and retouch it instead of replace it. It's so nice hearing Jim Henson's voice as Kermit and a few other characters.

My family loves Philarmagic!! We hope that they don't replace the Muppets, but if a new updated movie is made it needs to keep the essence of simplicity and corniness that are true to the original. My "kids" at age 26 and 20 still insist on seeing the preshow, going back in if we get there too late for it.

On the other hand, The Enchanted Tiki Room springs to mind.

I love Muppet vision and Philharmagic, even at age 18, I can recite much of it and every time I get squeezed in a crowd all I can think of is rizzo's preshow line " we're doing tests on deodorant strength!". I am with everyone else that they only remaster Muppet vision instead of replacing it.

We just adored Philharmagic! Not only fun 3D, but a cute storyline too. I'd seen Muppet Vision 3D several times before (WDW and DLR) but I have to agree, it's getting a bit rough around the edges, especially when you see the new 3D technology that's coming out (like Monsters vs. Aliens) I remember seeing Captain EO at "MGM Studios" back in the 1991. Talk about dated! I think it wouldn't have been SO dated if a, ahem, certain someone hadn't been in the movie! LOL!!!

I love and adore Muppet Vision preshow and all. Yeah, it looks a little old but no no no they can't change it! Please!

I love Mickey's Philharmagic too, even though ginormous Ariel saying I want more kind of freaks me out!

Caption EO was at Epcot where Honey I Shrunk the Audience is now. I saw it once back in the day. It was weird.

As I recall, the MMR was there when the MK opened in 1971. That gave way to the 3D movie Magic Journeys (which started in Epcot in the Imagination Pavilion, then moved to the MK when Captain EO moved in. To my knowledge Captain EO has never been in D/MGM). Then came the Lion King show, which used live "puppetronics". And now we have Philharmagic.

Ok, I thought about it and I'm going to say it.

I am unimpressed with Philharmagic.
The first time I saw it I didn't like it at all, very disappointed.
And it looks cloudy or out of focus to me...

I have seen it again.
I like it a little better.
(Que area was filthy though).

I do like the air conditioning and I like to sit down for a bit.

Yep, if nothing else both Philharmagic and Muppets are good 'nappable' attractions - not too much on the loud noise (until you get to the end of Philharmagic), not too much on the screaming kids, and no motion.

Perhaps it was out of focus on your viewing. I've always thought it looked pretty sharp, technically speaking. What I don't like are the 3D animations of the cartoon characters like Aladdin and Jasmine - they just don't look right. But overall I do enjoy the show, especially the apple pie smellitzers!

I'm the 22 year old in Muppets that screams HOLLER!! When they say "if you see a bunny. holler!" It's great, but I do agree it needs a few touch ups.
