Hi, I haven't been around for a while and its great to be back planning another holiday. Just a quick questions to all you experts, when did the christmas decorations and lights get taken down?
thanks Jenny:)

The decorations usually come down during the week (or so) after New Years, usually in stages.

I have never been to Disney World. I live in Vegas so Disneyland is where I go. I was wondering, does Disney World do the Nightmare Before Christmas overlay also?

I was there this last year for the marathon weekend, which was 1/10-11 and I noticed that one park (now I can't recall which one, but proably Epcot) had it's tree up when I got there, but the next day it was down. With the First being a Friday this year, I'm not sure if they'll start taking things down on the 4th, or wait until the 10th. But that tree was like the only thing I saw around.
But most of the 'fun' holiday stuff will likely be done by the 4th at the latest (Osborne lights, storytellers, etc).
They sell holiday merchandise year-round. There's a holiday store in the MK in the Liberty Square area, and one in Downtown Disney - and I'm not sure if one of the stores near the World Showcase entrance from future world is 100% Christmas, or just during the holiday season. There was a small Christmas store in the Studios, too - but they moved that stuff all around when they were doing refurbs, so I'm not sure what the current status is there.
You might find some good sales, though.

Thanks

There's more to the Christmas decorations than just the lights. There ARE lights on the Castle (GORGEOUS) and the Osborne Lights in the Studios (Wow!) and the Lights of Winter in Epcot, but there are lots of other decorations and events. There's Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in the MK that has been starting middish November, so the MK should be decorated by then - but last year they waited until after the 2nd weekend of December (or thereabouts) to put up the Christmas tree. I don't believe the Storytellers in Epcot start until after Thanksgiving (I really enjoy them) and I think Candlelight Processional starts about then as well. I'm not sure about the Christmas parade in the Animal Kingdom.
So if you want to see EVERYTHING, your best bet is to wait until after Thanksgiving.
