I have been making travel kits for my kids as we have 24 hours of driving to get us to Disneyland... They have the usual stuff to occupy them, Journals handheld games ect - and because the dollar store now has disney stuff It has been fun to theme everything

Anyways I am also makeing Personalized Activity Books for each of them and I though I would share some of the free printables links

These are great coloring pages as there are many that are disneyLAND themed not just generic 'disney'

If anyone else had ideas for things to occupy the kids enroute please share.

How old are your kids?

Those are some great links!! Thanks!!

Personal DVD players and MP3 players seem to always help our trips as well. We also time when we pass out snacks and the like so that they have something to look forward to.

My oldest cant read enough books while on the road. She will go for hours before we hear from her.

Yes on our last trip we sure made use of the portable DVD player... but I do try and break up the DVD's so they get a chance to enjoy the scenery too

My kids are 9,(will be 10 soon) 11 & 13

Hoping to find a good travel bingo site too ( free of course)

And some Disney crosswords

Going to make some customized word searches to do with Disney and our trip and our family...

Audio books and WikkiSticks are mandatory for us! Your kids may be a bit too old or you may be surprised at the cool creations they come up with. We also polished off a Harry Potter on CD (borrowed from the library) on our last drive, played a bunch of car games and played a very very long game of "would you rather." That was fun!

we have the usual dvd's and travel paks of crayons, Lego broads glued to lap desks for them to build stuff.

I know this will sound really weird but we play lot of road games. The spot a letter of the alphabet on signs, count cars, trucks etc.

My dad made up one for road mess, like spotting road gators( split tire treds left on the side of the road) burn ups (where a car has left a burnt mark on the side of the road), counting hawks, deer. They keep score on a sheet of paper and when we got to where we were going they count them all up. For some reason the 10yr and 6yr find this game really amusing. Esp the road gators.;)

We do buckets(DL) of popcorn and movie candy and play movie theater, complete with car movie tickets, good for 1 movie of choice, that way both kids get to choose a movie. Helps keep the squabbling down.

I'd never heard of WikkiStix either! They look very cool:

Store locations shows that they are available at a small number of stores in Canada.

But it looks like you can buy them directly from that website, and that they ship to Canada! (It asks for the country to determine shipping, and Canada is in the list)

I know this game's as old as the hills, but we like to keep track of license plates from different states (and Canada and Mexico) that we see on the road. It's a little more interesting now (than when I was a kid) because states have different designs on them. We also have a US map, so we can mark off which states' plates we've found (and it's a little geography thrown in).

Maybe not for the car ride but I always bring bubbles for my little ones. They are great for when we are waiting for a parade. AS for in the car, we find travel games, the kids have their game boys but we also find a big book. like a Harry Potter book and take turns reading it outloud. When we stop I make a small box of stuff for them to do like a jump rope or something for them to get out some energy. We also have the DVD player and play lots of kids songs on the radio, usually ones form VBS. We do a lot of long hours in the car. DH parents live 11 hours away. We used to travel at night when the older boys were little (now 10,9,and7). We may be doing that again since the baby has never been on a trip that long yet. But lots of great ideas here. I also search "fun car games" to see what coems up. I print the bingo cards from a free website too.
