Wouldn't know. My DD spent hers before the day was done. Burned a hole in her pocket. It comes as a "gift card" so I'm presuming you spend it when you want. There are restrictions on where you can spend it. No food for example.

Does anybody know whether you have to use your birthday fun card on your birthday or does it function like any gift card.

During the very beginning of the promotion, they were saying that it had to be used only on your birthday, but they've subsequently changed that. It's pretty much a gift card - use anytime, in any increment.

I have a question, we are saving ours for possibly the holiday tour, but I was curious, can we use them for Premium viewing for Fantasmic!?

The Birthday fun card has no expiration date. It doesn't function like the Disney Gift Card you can buy through Disneyland, it has some restriction on where it can be used and on food purchases.

I don't believe it can be used for Priority Seating for Fantasmic.

At the smaller gift shop at Disneyland Hotel they said I could use the card to buy diet Coke, single serve juice, and prepackaged items like pretzels and popcorn. i could even buy newspapers there.

I'm glad you reminded me to post about this.

I had asked this a few months ago and got an answer from AutopiaGuy that you CAN use it for Fantasmic, but that you had to do it in person at the tour desk or guest services. This means that you cannot make the reservations in advance of the birthday. It also means that the Fantasmic showing may be sold out if you want to do it on the person's birthday.

We went in the beginning of Sept. for my husband's birthday. I called every few days and checked on the status of the seating on his birthday, and as of the day before (when we were flying out) there was availability.

On his birthday we got to the park early (about 45 min before opening) and went directly to the guest services window to the left of Disneyland's main gates (we went here instead of the ticket booths so we could get the funcard AND buy Fantasmic seats at the same time). We got his gift card and right then asked to use it towards the Fantasmic Reservations. The CM was HAPPY to do this for us. He acted like it was a very wise choice for our funcard. The whole balance of the funcard was applied to both tickets and we just had to pay the difference.

We got the tickets and were told to check in 1 hour before the show started, by the churro cart in front of Haunted Mansion. We decided to check in 1 hr and 10 minutes before (to be a head of the crowd) and I'm glad we did. We picked front row seats (on a piece of paper - we were not able to drop off our stuff). When we left there was a long line to check in.

We ended up returning about 30 minutes before the show because we quickly used the fastpasses we collected in the morning (splash, indi) and did HM and were ready to sit for a while, but we could have arrived later and been fine too.

I know lots of people here love F! reserved seating, and I'm glad I did it once, but in my opinion it's not worth full price. I do think it is worth what we paid (around $46 after the funcard for two people), so I'm glad that this is how we used the credit.

Looking back I think that you would be able to purchase FUTURE fantasmic seatings with the funcard as long as you do it at guest services or the tour desk after you've already received your funcard.

Do the hotels have the ability to give out funcards?

If not, what would be the easiest way to get mine (on 12/13, Sunday) coming from the DLH.

Change in plans for us.... we were going to do Knotts on a weekday, but will now be doing it that Sunday to take advantage of the Toys for Tots free admission (FYI for other trip planners in December- the first three weekends, Sat/Sun you can get free admission/discounted admission to Knotts by buying a $15 dollar toy @ Knotts stores and donating them to Toys for Tots).

I'm a bit sad, cuz I won't get to really be "in the park" much if at all really on my birthday, but, on the upside I this essentially pays for a Mrs Knotts Chicken dinner, so I am OK with that! Looks like the weekend fireworks are likely going to be @ 9:25, so maybe we can go to the park just for that after Knotts.

I don't think you can get them in the hotel, but definitely at Guest services or the ticket booth.

If you have an Annual Pass or Paid Multi-Day ParkHopper, the slowest location IMHO is the DCA Guest Services booth inside the park. Once you go through the DCA main entrance turnstiles, make an immediate left and you will see it.

As for the hotels, they cannot issue the Bithday Fun cards.

Ok, bummer about the hotels.

I don't think DCA will work either coming or going... they'll probably be opening @ 10. Ugh... I guess i"ll just have to suck it up, get up early and put my running shoes on and might be closed by the time we're back, and even if not, if i can get into the park, I might twist arms to see the fireworks.

Early morning, I think the best bet is one of the Main Ticket Booths.

And make sure and look around, depending on the day, there is a difference in the lines between the East and West Booths.

But be careful, and look at how many Windows are open. One side might look at having a shorter wait, but then if they only have half the windows open.....

I don't recommend City Hall in the AM. Yes, you can get the Fun Card there, but usually there is a lot of folks in line doing other transactions, such as banking, asking for a GAC, etc.

Guest Services near the Picnic area and lockers can also issue a Fun Card, but that line usually moves a lot slower than the regular Ticket Booth lines.

I couldn't find anything in the search results about this...

I was originally going to use the fun card to pay for food and then found out that it doesn't cover it :crying:. Can I request the fun card and then pay for my Mom's ticket with it? Or can I only get a ticket for me?

Thanks guys!

You would only be able to purchase "food" that's considered merchandise, like pre-packaged goods. But yes, you can use your fun card to buy a ticket that someone else could use.

My husband and I will be arriving on October 24 and will probably get to Disney around 11am. The 24th is my birthday, so I was wondering where can I pick up my birthday funcard? Is there one location that is better than the others? We have dinner reservations at Blue Bayou that night, so is it better if we stay at DL that day? Any help would be appreciated.

Ticket booths and guest services. There are three guest services locations. One outside the gates to the left of DL gates. City Hall and One inside DCA on your left as you enter. We waited until afternoon and went to city hall when there was no line.

Yes you can buy a ticket, but I think you'll have to go to another line to do that. So you might want to have your mom wait a few people behind you, so once you're done and have the funcard in hand, your mom will be ready to go to a ticketbooth and you can meet her there and pay.

It's some little blip in CA law, if I recall the explanation correctly, where they can't take all that info they need for the funcard, then sell you something. Or something like that. :)

You can use the Funcard to purchase a one-day, one-park ticket at the same window. The readers who've reported that they had to go to another window have been trying to use the Funcard as credit towards a more expensive pass, such as upgrading to a park hopper, a multi-day ticket or an annual passport. Since THAT transaction would require additional payment, if you are paying with a credit card you have to do it at a different window.

The blip is this. If you buy an annual pass, they enter a lot of your personal info into the computer, ie; name, address, birthday etc. The state of CA. says that you can't pay for other tickets with your CREDIT CARD at that same window for security reasons, (now someone has all your vital info and your credit card number) so they then move you to another window. not really a big deal.

We used a PILE of cards to recently purchase an AP. I had a collection of birthday fun cards and gift cards from the previous "Buy an AP get a $50 gift card" from Costco. We did not use them the day we got them, obviously, ;) But they saved us a bunch of money on that AP!
