But a Birthday FunCard doesn't expire, and you can use that to renew your AP AT the parks (no online or mail option).

My friend's pass was blocked out on his birthday 2/6 and I bought him a blockout day ticket so he could get his fun card. We had no problems. Initially they had decided that blockout day tickets were not valid to get the fun card, but that was changed shortly thereafter.

Hi Darkbeer, do you mean that I can show up on my birthday, get the Funcard, and then use that later on towards a new AP once my current one expires? Thanks.

Yes.
That's great! Although I was half looking forward to buying stuff I normally wouldn't have.

We are taking DD5 to Dis for her 6th birthday and I was wondering, can we use the FUNcard (we all have AP's) for dinner at Ariel's Grotto? And if not, can we use it at other "restaurant" type places? Mainly, Redd Rockett's (we ALWAYS eat at least one meal here! YUM!!)? Thank you so much for your time and help!! I had originally planned on using it to buy her and DD9 each a dress up Minnie, which is still my backup, but if I can use it to pay 90% of Ariel's, I'm gonna! LOL

From what I know, funcards can not be used for food, so that means all restaurants.
Somebody correct me if im wrong.

I don't think so. i think it can only be used for merchandise.

Hmm wow, thank you for letting me know!! Nuts!! Oh well, we will still eat at Ariel's. The last time we ate there was for her 3rd birthday so I doubt she even remembers it. Plus, DH sure likes being surrounded by Princesses....HAHAHAHA.

One thing to note is that you CAN buy food as merchandise. For example, you can use the birthday fun card at Marceline's Confectionery and the Candy Palace. Not that you'd use that as dinner (I might, though!), but I wouldn't have known that I could use my card in those places if hadn't seen it posted elsewhere. I would have that it was excluded under the "no food" rule.

Candy Palace and Marceline's is technically not considered as "food" because they are merchandise locations. They aren't a restaurant or a fruit cart, so they are considered as merchandise.

I never knew at that one shop on Main Street that serves the coffee/cookies/hot chocolate in the middle of the store, that you could use your fun pass there. Niiice. Hmmm, I've calculated... you can get just about 23 cups of hot chocolate with your fun card.
A cookie and hot chocolate is my all time favorite snack at the park, so when I found out last night that I could use the fun card, I was sooo happy.
Any other places/shops you can get food/candy/cookies at with the fun card?

Yay, we leave Tuesday!! And oddly enough, my super Mommy planning gene hasn't kicked in. Hotel is booked, money is saved, we have 1 ressie for the birthday girl but other than that...haven't even done my RideMax yet! LOL
So, here's my question: We have APs. DD5's birthday is Wednesday. Where exactly do we go to get her Fun Card? Is it JUST the ticket booths outside? Can it be at done at City Hall at all and/or also? Does she have to be present? Meaning, can DH and DD go have fun while I stick it out in line with her birth certificate and the confirmation email?! Thanks SOOOO much for any and all help!! Truly appreciate it!

She will need to be there. You can get it at the ticket booths outside the gates, at Guest Services, and at City Hall. Pick the shortest line.

Hmm where is Guest Services? Thanks so much, Mal!! You remain one of my most trusted sources on the MP!!

Guest Services are the Windows located to the left of the Disneyland Turnstiles.
Also, INSIDE of DCA at Guest Relations. I think that is the best choice, as it tends to have little to no wait as compared to the other choices. (To the left once you enter the Main DCA Turnstiles).

I second this choice. We waited about 5 mins to get my mom's fun card in Feb. I don't think many people think you can get them at DCA.
