Can someone link me or provide info and what & when the changes will start at DCA? We are considering a mid-May trip to DLR or WDW. My dh is especially worried that DCA will be a boarded up mess :) Thanks.

Here's the wikipedia page on DCA (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Disney%27s_California_Adventure_Park#Expansion_pla n) with quite a bit of information about construction dates...
...but it's already pretty boarded up. The Sun Wheel & Midway Games are down, & that California movie or whatever is closed for construction on The Little Mermaid Ride. Oh, & I guess most noticeably, the entire lagoon was drained in November.

Thanks. I'll take a look at the link.
Anyone who's been there over the holidays.... How under construction does it seem?

It wasn't that bad to us. Most obvious was the sunwheel (there is scaffolding around it) and the lagoon being dry. Nothing else was that distracting.

Actually, I would say, it seems to be under a significant amount of construction. My favorite photo spot is on the bridge to Paradise Pier with the Sun Wheel & lagoon in the background, & with the scaffolding around the focal point of the area (Sun Wheel) & lack of water, it's pretty sad looking.
Hopefully it will be cleaned up a bit more by May!

I agree with AliCat - other than the pier and the lagoon, everything else seemed in pretty good shape. Soarin' and the ToT are still going strong. And I could still easily spend an hour sitting in the lobby of the Animation building just looking at the rotating display all around!

So do I understand correctly that the lagoon is drained right now because the Sun Wheel is under construction? It's staying in the long term? So when will there be water back in it? Thanks.

Lagoon is drained to put in stuff to the new World of Color show.

My guess is they won't refill the lagoon until they are ready to start testing
the Light Show. That could be a few more months.

Yes, the Sun Wheel has scaffolding around it, and guys painting it. The lagoon is dry. The midway games are boarded up. BUT, it really isn't bad. The rest of the area is fine. And even dry, it just looks like a cement pool that was emptied.
