View Full Version : Disney gets blasted on CNN this morning Rocketeer64 12-04-2002, 06:58 AM They blasted and downgraded the stock and basically told the world what a piece of crap Treasure Planet was. Go to CNN.com for details. RStar 12-04-2002, 10:26 AM Which I don't understand. I felt the movie was good. Not great, but certainly not "a piece of crap". I think the competiton held people off, but they may go see it if the media wouln't slander the thing. I hope Disney doesn't write it off as a loss yet, and I hope it turns around to at least break even. EandCDad 12-04-2002, 11:01 AM The last time the original poster started a thread based on something from CNN, it was that Disney was selling off the theme parks and hotels to Six Flags and Marriott (I'm not gonna link to the thread, since it was later closed by the moderators). The only CNN.com information I see on Disney today is indications that Disney's announcement yesterday about lower earnings due to lower than expected revenue from Treasure Planet has hurt their stock price. Here is that article. (http://money.cnn.com/2002/12/04/markets/markets_newyork.1034/index.htm) I'm not sure CNN rates stocks, so I'm don't see how they could have "downgraded the stock." Also, I'd be surprised if CNN told the world what a "piece of crap" Treasure Planet was since they wrote a very positive review (http://www.cnn.com/2002/SHOWBIZ/Movies/11/27/review.planet/index.html) about the movie. Rocketeer64, I am publically warning you that your behavior in this thread has raised a flag with the moderators, and we are watching this thread extremely carefully. I realize you and EandCDad don't always see eye to eye, but if you are going to disagree with him, do so in a civilized manner. This kind of sarcasm flies against the community policies you agreed to abide by when you registered. Seeing as this is a second warning for you, you are risking account suspension. Tone it down and be civilized, or I'm closing this thread. disneyimagineer 12-14-2002, 09:27 AM Originally posted by RStar Which I don't understand. I felt the movie was good. Let's not forget about the after market in video/DVD sales. This is often Disney's "sweet spot" with regard to turning around a profit loss. :) I spent some time in the park the other day and "Jim Hawkins" was mobbed by fans of the movie so let's just wait and see what the people think... AND STRAIGHT FROM WALT..."We are not trying to entertain the critics. I'll take my chances with the public." ;) --Walt Disney JasonWorrel 12-26-2002, 07:24 PM Originally posted by Rocketeer64 Sorry Dad, I don't recognize any scripture of Pagan origins.
