I don't think one can call Legoland worker-type people CMs, but I did have a question for people who have visit that park--
Do you get aggravated at the quality of people that work at Legoland? Actually, I don't think it's the people, but rather the lack of training and the way they understaff the attractions. I really noticed this back when we has APs. Staff loading the rides would work in slow, expressionless motion, turning what would be a 5 min. wait at DL into a 20 min wait.
In addition, staff did not seem trained in emergency procedures. My kids were riding on the Lego-horse ride up by the castle and the ride broke down. No problem, but the staff person acted mystified as to how to proceed. After standing around looking at the motionless horses, he picked up a phone and called someone. Meanwhile, parents were scaling the fences and walking around the attraction to take their kids off the horses. It was a very wild scene--something one would never see at DL.
Has anyone ever noticed this? Have things gotten better this year? I know it is a new park and adjustments will be made, but dang, Legoland sure made the CMs at DL look like geniuses!! (and they are)
:)

People who work at Legoland are actually MCs - Model Citizens. I tend to use "CM" as a generic term for anyone who works at a particular place when I'm talking to people who know what CM means - it's just easier to say than "worker" or "employee".

I've only been to Legoland once, and I honestly don't remember much interaction with the CMs there. I only went on one ride and spent most of my time looking at all the nifty miniatures, but I find CM quality to be lacking in almost any non-Disney park. That's because I'm spoiled by Disney.

Legoland IS suffering from the same affliction that is infesting other parks..and this includes Knott's and yes Disney to a lesser extent (so far). The kids (only some) are not just bored or acting like forced labor but are 'boring' as well. Your lucky to get ANY response from them other than a distant mental 'wave off'. Their jobs have nothing to do with their..hair..date schedule..break times..etc. except as an interuption of what is REALLY important to them. A product of the times and lack of training to be sure but also a hint that their upbringing did not include a fostering of an interest in what goes on beyond their nose.
On the other hand...on the 4th..we did run into a few terrific MCs who were as the CMs of old. Attitude up...outgoing and interested in the time we were having. Funny that a GROUP of these types were all in the same place...the new Technic Diner. So is this coincidence or a peek into the training and management style at that particular location?
I try to engage most everyone we run into at any park..and do make a mental note as to the reponses...I would say the Ride help at Legoland are a few notches below the merchandizing bunch...
Training? Hiring practices? Or is the Ride job just too boring with not enough rotation? Would like to hear from CMs or MCs on this.
