That really stinks the park was so dead, but glad for you it was such a quick easy day.

This whole thing is so sad. Here in PHX we have lots of fires but nothing that I can remeber so bad and effecting so many people.

Hope everyone is staying safe. Keep your pets close if you can too.

I know lots of people are praying it ends quickly. We are leaving Monday the

It should be ok. Today was fairly clear. A little smoke blew in midday but otherwise, just a faint smoke smell. The fires may not be out, but they should be contained. Check road closures if you are driving and plan accordingly.

We were at the parks yesterday and I guess we had a different take on how bad it was. Yes, we could smell the smoke but it wasn't horrible. Infact, sometimes we couldn't smell it. And yes, there was ash flying around which was probably the worst part because it would get in our eyes. I'm glad I wore sunglasses to block it but I ended up having to take them off because it was too dark. My nephew didn't and it got in his eyes a couple of times but nothing horrible. The sky was eery. I have some pics that I'll post when I load them on the computer. But we didn't have any problems and it didn't make us want to leave. I also didn't see anyone walking around with masks or washcloths over their noses. I'm not saying there wasn't anyone but they weren't noticed by me or anyone in my party that they mentioned. It was a sight to ride Screamin' and see the smoke in the Anaheim Hills. It made me realize how close it was. We drove past it on our way home and it was very sad to see the apartments there that were burned.

Like I said, no one in my family had problems yesterday, but none of us have breathing problems either. I'm sure it would have been miserable for people with asthma. But we had a great day and enjoyed the light crowds. Actually, our entire trip had light crowds. It was great!

I go to Cal State Fullerton and was surprised they're not closing it. I live right across the school and yesterday was bad because of ash, and earlier today was better because there wasn't the ash. However, a few hours ago we left the apartment to go eat and go to Target and we were in Target for less than an hour and when we left the air looked way worse than when we went in. We could start to smell the smoke in the store and when we got outside it was hard to breathe. Not to mention my roommate left her window open and when we got into the apartment it smelt like smoke!

Plus so many of the students live in the areas affected by the fires, I would think they would keep campus closed at least one day but I guess not. I used to live in San Diego County and one year our school was closed when the air was much less severe than it is here so I'm just surprised.

We just got back tonight - we were there Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday was fine, at first. Around 11, though, the wind was whipping through Adventureland and looked like a tornado coming through - there were large pieces of ash flying at me and it was very hard to breath, for me. If you weren't in the wind, it wasn't so bad - - you could smell the fire, but it didn't affect you. But, if you had to face the wind to get somewhere, it was awful.

Today, it was warm and quiet in the parks - walk-ons, mostly. OH, and I saw SEVERAL Mouseadventure teams - even asked one team in Gibson Girl what they were trying to find in there since I saw so many come through while we were eating. ;)

We went to the park today. Having three freeways closed really drew the crowds away. The park was dead. Not just less crowded, but absolutely dead. Deader than I have seen it in 10 years. Space Mountain had no line, so much that they let the regular line go into the Fastpass line. Fastpass was really useless today. We rode Matterhorn three times in a row because we could enter in at the handcap entrance, and then go around through the switchbacks (which had the gates open, so you went right to the loading area. That's how dead the park was. I am sorry for the circumstances that led to it though. :(

DARN - I KNEW it! We almost went because I had a feeling it would be dead, but I just wasn't sure about the air quality being safe yet (my DD has a heart condition and I have allergies and asthma so we are extra precautious about it) Did the air feel much better Sunday, did your eyes water at all or did you see/feel any ash? At least the winds are gone now and our onshore flow is back so the dampness will start to clean up the air.

Here's a couple pictures I took at DCA on Sat. There were taken between 2:15 and 3:00 in the afternoon.

We just missed it all!! We live in Valencia which is about 10 minutes away from Sylmar. We went to DLR on Friday morning and came home at about 11pm. The Sylmar fire started at about 10:30pm Friday night so we really did just miss it. If we stayed until closing (which is what we normally do but the boyfriend was having some back problems so we left early) we would have gotten stuck in the traffic from the 5 closing. Its smokey and ashy out here. The flames are just starting to come over the hill through the Newhall Pass.

I didn't really notice any ash. When we got to the parking garage around noon, we could smell the smoke but not very much. The only other time it was noticable was in the Nemo queue (which was very short), and the wind shifted and you could see the smoke toward Autopia. Otherwise, my eyes felt a little tired at the end of the day, which may be due to smoke, but my partner has asthma and he didn't need his inhaler. It just felt dry and hot.

You must live near me. It was pretty bad today. I took a few photos:

That was around 2pm. It's gotten much worse. Very smoky outside, I can see the glow of the fire in the distance.

If those pictures are from your window, we are next door neighbors..LOL. How funny

definitely will not be Fantasmic or FW tonite unless wind reduces a lot.

Fireworks were cancelled Saturday night, but they ran both Fantasmic shows, though without most of the normal pyro. At least for the second show, they did the full Columbia/pirates show, which they don't do in higher winds. And yes, crowds were very light on Saturday night. We got to RoA at about 9:40/9:50, and we were still able to get sitting seats in the very front section. After the show, HMH was about a 5 minute wait.
