We are flying into LAX the afternoon of Thanksgiving Day. Our friends from LA will actually be away so we could either bum around LA for a few days then drive down to DL on Sunday. Or we could just go directly to DL and spend the entire 9 days there. I'm not sure what is open Thanksgiving Day weekend but I don't want to hang around LA if there is nothing to do. I figure if we're at DL then I'm assured a decent meal without having to go looking for an open restaurant.

What would you guys do? I don't want to do too much driving that weekend because of the holiday but the LA-DL corridor I can manage.

I would make a few calls and see who is still accepting reservations for Thanksgiving dinner. If you want to stay in L.A. you might try

The Tam O'Shanter Inn, they do a great holiday meal.

If you want to be in O.C. you could try

The Ritz Carlton in Laguna, they do a fancy holiday buffet.

Have a lovely visit.

Wow, Laguna is a bit far, but if you do go that way, I have really enjoyed the Thanksgiving buffet at Cannons in Dana Point. Amazing cliffside view of the bay.

Well, DH said he wants to head straight to DL as he feels the kids will enjoy being there much more than anywhere else. Honestly, ten days seems like a bit much but maybe with crowds and whatnot it will be perfect. Too bad the GCH is totally booked but I was able to get a room at the DLH. The kids are sooooooo excited.

9 or 10 days would seem like a bit much. If he reconsiders, we have family that comes into L.A. every year for Thanksgiving and we always go to movies, museums, out to lunch and dinner. Pretty much everything will be open.

Fortunately Anaheim is centrally located and if you need a break mid-week you can easily make a day trip to L.A. or San Diego.

I'm sure the traffic will be bad that weekend. Would it be crazy to drive from LA to DL on the Sunday?
