View Full Version : If not San Angel Inn, where to eat in World Showcase?
kkmickey 10-27-2008, 03:47 PM We have ADRs for San Angel Inn - I made the reservations because of the atmosphere (kind of like Blue Bayou at DLR). However, my husband reminded me that we ate there before, and the food wasn't that good. Assuming I can get an ADR somewhere else, where would you suggest? It will be myself, my husband, and our two teens (who appreciate good food). We are looking for a nice atmosphere, unique, good food and good service.
Any suggestions? We would like to keep in the World Showcase area, as that is our touring plan for the day.
Thanks
GusMan 10-27-2008, 04:07 PM Well, if you are talking about your trip in about 46 days, then you may actually be a little limited as to what you can get.
Personally, I would try Teppan Edo over in Japan. Always had great food and great service there. And the show is very entertaining. (We are headed there in just a couple short days!!)

Gusman: I'm leaving in 4 days for my first trip! I am SO excited!
Chris M 10-27-2008, 05:32 PM I know this is a total long shot (only because the ADR's are SO hard to get) but Canada is amazing. The Cheddar Cheese Soup is to die for especially with the pretzel bread sticks. MMMMMMMMM 38 days and counting before we eat there.
marisag 10-27-2008, 06:01 PM That's a hard one! I personally love a lot of the World Showcase restaurants. My favorite is Le Cellier, but like Chris said reservations are very hard to come by. I also like Japan, Italy and Morocco. Good Luck!
Cheshire Figment 10-28-2008, 05:24 AM For good food and a unique atmosphere I would stongly suggest Marrakesh in Morocco. The food is not what you would get every day, but really not too strange either (sort of Americanized). Also they have a small band and an excellent Belly Dancer which you don't often get to see.
Le Cellier would be my top choice-but, probably not available at this date.
My boss loved Biergarten in Germany in September. The food and the show-but you're seated with others at the table so just be aware.
My 2nd choice would be Rose and Crown. Sitting on the patio looking across the Lagoon is a terrfic "getaway" feel. Food was good and wait staff was completely charming. Beer flight was great too:D.
jengold29 10-29-2008, 10:44 AM I'd say Marakesh or Bistro de Paris.
I'd skip 9 Dragons (if you eat chinese food at home you'll have severe sticker shock!).
njtravelerof6 10-29-2008, 10:49 AM We also like the Rose and Crown pub and if the weather is nice, sitting outside overlooking the lake is wonderful. The food is decent (well, it's as good as British food can be, if you know what I mean!) and the prices are reasonable.

Oh, that's almost exactly what we recommended to someone on a bus to Epcot last week - see where you can get in - but don't do 9 Dragons if you have good Chinese at home. (They were trying for same-day ressies - we actually had to encourage them to go make ressies at Guest services and not just walk around WS! And they'd already done Biergarten that trip.)
AudieL 10-30-2008, 08:06 PM Our son has been a fan of Marakesh since he was a teen! For the food AND the bell dancer! The food is very good, it's our first stop in just 8 more sleeps!!
kkmickey 10-30-2008, 08:50 PM Called today to try and get Le Cellier or Teppan Edo, but of course, neither were available. I did get reservations for Chefs de France, but I will keep trying for the others.
I like the atmosphere at San Angel, but I can get average Mexican food at home.
Any opinions on Chefs de France? Any suggestions on good dishes?
stan4d_steph 10-31-2008, 07:30 AM Any opinions on Chefs de France? Any suggestions on good dishes? Here's a recent thread on the restaurants in the France pavilion (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=109742). Here's a link to the MousePlanet Park Guide page on Chefs de France (http://www.mouseplanet.com/guide.php?pg=BDE403). I haven't eaten there with the current menu, but from reading it I would go with the Alsacienne Tarte (Tarte Flambee) to start. It would be hard to decide from there!

I only ate there once, and that was for lunch. What I had is not on the dinner menu, so if you're doing lunch, you might want to consider the "French Menu". I'm a sucker for 2 of the 3 things, so it wasn't hard for me to decide to go with it. It started out with French Onion Soup, then a ham and cheese sandwhich (and I think some salad), and finished with creme brulee. It wasn't too much food (I think it was a 1/2 sandwhich), and really hit the spot.
cheshirecatgirl 11-01-2008, 06:58 AM Marrakesh or Teppan Edo. Even if they don't have advance reservations, you may be able to get in for lunch that day.

That's exactly what I want to try for when we go-for lunch as well.
