Well, after haunting the kiosk by the International Gateway and the areas in Innoventions (both sides) all week, we finally got to try out the Kimmunicator on our last morning! They'd been handing out fastpass-like appointments in Future world that morning, but since we spent most of the morning in the Studios, we didn't see them.

But, that didn't matter when we walked up to the open kiosk outside the "Candy" Store in Italy (which we may not have seen if we hadn't decided to go into that store), and asked if we could help test!

We were given a task to go help out in Japan, and after a quick briefing from the CM, the Kimmunicator itself gave us instructions on how the device worked. It was kind of hard to see in the sun, so by the end my sister was looking at the screen and I was standing opposite her so I could hear better (the speaker was on the 'outside' of the phone-device).

We walked to Japan (being careful to not be followed!) and given instructions on places to go to help track down the Baby Bebe and put the 4 elements (earth, fire, wind, and water) back in balance. All of the effects were pretty cool, some more so than others, and there's a 'Do it Again' button to re-trigger things. Reminded me of a preschooler saying "Do it again, Daddy, Do it again!" and clapping their hands with glee. The effects were pretty cool.

There were also a couple of multiple choice questions we had to answer to help out the rest of the team (sorry, don't know the characters names besides Ron and Kim), and based on the survey, it sounded like the number you got was variable. We didn't ever 'need help' and the instructions on where to go to track down things and put the elements back in balance were accompanied by pictures, so it was fairly easy to figure out where to go. They were only having people test one pavillion at a time, and it took us less than 1/2 an hour to do Japan, and then turn in the device and take the survey.

My sister asked them later where they'd been handing out the 'fastpasses' and they asked her if she wanted to test, but since we already had (I had to leave before her to go home :crying:), she declined.

I'd read the description in the press release (which was written in present tense - very misleading, Disney, since it's still in test and adjust! Ok, I just reread it (http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/special/specialindex?id=EpcotPressReleasePage), and it says premiering in late 08, my bad ) and although I haven't yet listened to the MouseStation PodCast (http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=pc081016pc)about it, I did read the show notes, so I was pretty jazzed to get to try it, and I really wasn't disappointed. I don't think it would be hard for most grade schoolers to do most of on their own, if they had a little bit of direction from Mom and Dad, but we did know the pavillion pretty well, so it didn't take us much 'roaming' to find the 'gates to the castle' or the Koi pond.

The events we triggered were: For the Water, at the Koi pond, an additional waterfall/source spring for the pond was triggered. For Fire, a stone lantern by the castle gate lit up. For Earth, a Japanese character was illuminated on the back of a rock in the Zen Rock Garden. For Wind, the wind chime 'under' the stairs to the restaurant chimed. And for the finale, inside the store a Baby Bebe robot 'sprang up' from the middle of the display and was 'reset' so that it would behave. We had 2 multiple choice questions, one involved asking a Japanese cast member to translate something, and the other was taken from a sign near the entrance (where we'd been directed, and it was in bold letters).
I'd really love to be able to test out the thing by asking for help or getting multiple choice questions wrong, but we wanted to do it 'clean' for the first time through. I really think this is something that kids (of all ages :D) are going to enjoy and will allow them to 'see' more of the pavillions than just 'attractions' and restaurants.

I am so looking forward to this interactive experience.
Boo-ya!
Oh ....and my 6yr. old daughter and 13yr. old son will probably enjoy this as well.
I am hoping to join Team Kim Possible the week after Thanksgiving.

Thank you Cathy for sharing your experience.

Thanks for the report! Did you get any pictures of the kimmunicator or the effects?

Sorry, no (we were having too much fun doing the stuff!). The Kimmunicator is basically a flip-open cell phone.

Just bumping because 4 of us got to test another pavillion on Monday!

MikeDemo, tdelaney, GusMan, and I split up into 'girl vs boy' teams and went off to the China Pavillion to help out Ron, Kim and Wade. It was interesting to compare notes at the end, because the boys did do some different things than we did, and we did a couple things different from them.

Between the 4 cameras, I think we did manage to fully document the fun.

I went to Mission:Space at rope drop, and ahead of the crowd, I spotted a Kim Possible costumed Cast Member ahead of the group (though it wasn't a very big group - most people at rope drop went to Soarin' or Test Track!). So I grabbed my FP, and went into Innoventions to see if I could see anything. I didn't, but I did happen to talk with a CM who said they were testing in Norway, and would be handing out Mission Slips at the Odyssey bridge at 11 am. I went off to the Soarin' meet, (they started the interactive queue game right at the end of our wait, so we did get to play a round of that!) we took the group picture, and I went to use my M:S fastpass. As I was walking, I spotted a KP CM with Mission Slips (they look suspiciously similar to fast Passes, but they're not connected to that system) in her hand and I asked her if she needed help, and she let me pick my time.

They were NOT handing them out at the Odyssey bridge at 11, so I was really glad I had run into her earlier! They probably would have let us participate if we'd just walked up to the kiosk - maybe - but we wouldn't have all gotten to play together! The kiosk is right in front of where the Viking ship used to be (it's now just a landscaped area :crying:)

To add to what Drince said - it was a rather cool experience that has a lot of potential in many different ways. It is self-paced to a point where you do not have to rush which makes it easy for families with strollers in tow and the like. At the same time, you can be enthusiastic about it and zip over to the next clue quickly. (Thats kinda what we did.) Just dont do it too quickly as the Kimmunicators know where you are at - and if you are near others participating. In other words - following others may not necessarily be a benefit.

It was random enough where I can see this being something you can do every visit and possibly (no pun intended - or was it? :) ) not do the same thing twice.

Also, in the current edition of "Disney Files" (The DVC member magazine, which was waiting for me when I got home) said that the cases are supposed to be done on a country by country basis so you dont have to go running around to all the different countries to solve the case. But we did think of how if they wanted to, they could make even longer "cases" for the more advanced user. Who knows - that may be a future idea.

When we were on our way out, we stopped by Innoventions and saw how that Kim Possible display was active... but did not take the time to see if it would give out any of the tickets Drince mentioned earlier.

The preview was rather popular and the China pavilion was buzzing with Kim's familiar "beep-beep-de-beep" ringtone. But don't worry - the attraction was more about the case with only a little Kim Possible theme in place. So if you are not a fan of the show, there is nothing to worry about.

Now to start uploading pictures and video from the Adventure...

Here's the other half of the TEAM GIRL checking in.....

LOVED the adventure. What a great way to get families into the pavilions and to look for the little things that make the Imagineers' theming so incredible. Drince and I enjoyed following the clues and we, unlike the boys, were able to actually say a "secret code" to a live CM and receive our new clue in a tangible way. I'll not spoil it in case you want to be surprised, but it was really awesome.

We solved the case of the jade monkey. Thank goodness. We didn't have to battle any bad guys, so no knowledge of combat is necessary (LOL!) Kim took care of all of that.

I was really happy to have stumbled upon Drince at just the right time to join in the fun. At first, I thought that the age-range for the adventure would be somewhat static, but was I WRONG. We had fun as adults, and frankly, I think that even the littlest of kids could participate with the assistance of older kids/adults. It will be TERRIFIC for families.

Just as an update... there are some pictures in todays WDW update. (http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=wd081222mg)

Just ignore the fact that the picture of me was after Tina yelled over to me saying "GusMan - look surprised!"

GusMan makes mental note - dont get sick or have a server failure after taking pictures and video for something like this... because others, who will remain nameless (**cough** TINA! **cough**) will be happy to submit what has got to be the worst picture of you ever! :)

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry G-man. So sorry! I sent everything to Mark, so we can blame our fearless leader, Mr. Goldhaber!

Thank you guys for posting your thoughts about the Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure! We had read about it online (and a bit in our first ever DVC magazine)! We were excited to try it before, but now we can't wait for next month! Also good to see that we won't be the only adults having fun with this new technology!

Your update also reminded me to check the weekly WDW update (I'm still trying to get used to being an East Coast girl)!
