I was told by someone that the dresses at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique were not great quality (especially for the $189 cost for the whole package) and that it was better to bring your own dress/shoes and then do the hair/nail/make-up only package....?????? Who has done this and what are your thoughts?????

We haven't done BBB (7yo dd would rather do kid's Pirate Cruises and just wear her dresses to princess meals) but dd has a decent selection of princess dresses from both The Disney Store and disneyshopping.com. Over the last few years we have purchased Snow White, Minnie Mouse, Cinderella, and the Deluxe Christmas Belle dress.
During our visit last December I made a point to compare the dresses we had to the ones available at WDW and ours were MUCH nicer hands down. I think they were made much better and they seemed less scratchy/uncomfortable.
Dd really likes her princess dresses so I would have sprung for one if they were of a superior quality but I was thrilled that ours were much nicer (and dd agreed).
The bonus here is that we paid no more than $25 for any of the "regular" dresses ...and I picked up the Deluxe Belle dress deeply discounted and w/ a coupon for only $35!
You can pick up almost any princess dress from either online or TDS for a fraction of retail right now with Halloween at the end of the week. I know that sometimes the prices will drop to less than $15!
Good Luck!

We have bought 2 Alice in Wonderland dresses from the parks, and they have been of VERY good quality. When I checked out a Snow White costume near her ride, it seemed to be nicely made. We haven't tried the ones from Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiques. For that price, they should be custom made! Good Luck!

I find that the dresses sold at the park are of fairly good quality--better than what you will find on Target or Walmart. I'm not sure they are identical but I would compare the quality to the standard versions available at the Disney Store or online.
I think the "deluxe" versions of the dresses available at the Disney Store or online are indeed much nicer, as another poster has said. After Halloween (or before) and/or just before or after Christmas, they are deeply discounted. It can be hard to choose which dress! I think online right now you can find the "standard" Cinderella dress, on sale; a deluxe version, on sale, and this Christmas's deluxe "princess" version, not yet on sale. You can also frequently find them brand new on e-Bay the year after.
They only thing you may not find at sale time and/or on sale are the accessories. They are sort of hit or miss.
Good luck.

Not sure what you have decided, but we just got back from lunch at one of our favorite places, Cracker Barrel, and they had all of their Halloween stuff 60% off and we saw the prettiest pink princess gown....thought of your question when I saw it...it's not to late to run out and see what's on sale today! Good Luck!
