View Full Version : Will I be allowed to enter a park with a laptop?
I Are Baboon 10-15-2008, 08:31 AM I arrive at the Dolphin this Saturday morning and check in is 3:00. Since I'm there for a conference/work, I'll have my laptop with me. I am not about to check my laptop with the hotel. I'm thinking of puttering around EPCOT until my room is ready. Will they let me carry a laptop into the park? I checked WDW's FAQ and they make no mention that laptops aren't allowed. I'll have it in a backpack.

i've never seen anyone with one but i don't see why not. :)
Drince88 10-15-2008, 08:37 AM I know of people who do hang out in places in Epcot to work (and I just assumed they were using a laptop) so I say go for it. I wouldn't bring any unneeded cords or anything, just to keep it simple for the bag checker.
At worse, they'll tell you to put it in a locker right there (but not sure how much better/worse that would be than leaving it with bell services)
GusMan 10-15-2008, 08:37 AM I can tell you that I have brought my laptop with me into the parks. This was before I knew that bell services had a locked cage where they would keep my laptop at my resort.
I know that it can be nerve-racking to leave such an expensive device with the hotel. But maybe talk to them to see what they have to offer along the way of luggage storage. After all - they are a conference hotel and I am sure they get requests like that all the time. If you still dont feel comfortable with it, then take it with you.
I Are Baboon 10-15-2008, 10:00 AM Thanks for the replies. I'd feel more comfortable carrying it with me. It's rather new and light enough. It'd definitely be just the laptop without any of the cords or accessories. It's my own personal laptop...not work owned. My wife would feel better if I kept it with me, and whatever will make the wife happy, right? :D I should probably buy her something when I'm there...
Parktowne 10-15-2008, 10:26 AM That would be a definite yes on buying her something while there:fez: Especially if she visits this site:p

I can't go to Columbus, Ohio without buying her something. :p
And yes, she's a member here. :D

If she enjoys cooking, make sure and check out the Festival store in the old Wonders of Life Pavillion.

Off topic: The Columbus, OH airport has a little shop called the Chocolate Octopus. The Mrs. loved it when I brought her home homemade chocolate covered oreos. :)
Back to the program, already in progress. :)

I spent four extra hours in that airport courtesy of Continental Airlines losing my luggage. At least they comped me a meal with no dollar limit. HOORAY BEER!
UsBurchs 10-17-2008, 11:36 AM Well, on that same note . . .
if you take a laptop into the parks and want to actually USE it for information gathering, are there any Wi-Fi areas around the parks? Hmmm . . . not that I actually see a need for ME to take the time and stop to look something up on the computer, but you know, just in case . . .
By the way, LOVE your name, I ARE BABOON! Cow and Chicken - we miss that show! :)

The answer to the WIFI in the parks is a resounding NO. If you are at the MK try checking the monorail resorts. I have a IPOD Touch and while down at the world in May I did not get a signal at any of the parks that I could log onto.
UsBurchs 10-24-2008, 09:59 AM Nice to know. Thanks! :)
I Are Baboon 10-27-2008, 05:20 AM FYI, I checked into the Dolphin at 11:00AM and my room was ready, so this wasn't an issue for me. They upgraded my room to a suite at no extra charge!
I bought my a wife a Build-A-Dino from T-rex. She loves it. :D Same concept as the Build-A-Bear you've seen in malls, but with dinosaurs.

I bought her a velociraptor and named it "Philosaurus." I'm guessing you can figure that out.
UsBurchs 10-27-2008, 10:27 AM Build a dino - way cute. Looked at the site. :) I guess we'll have to add that to the list of things to check out. My son would LOVE it! Thanks for letting us know. :D
