View Full Version : Disney's new dinosaur-themed restaurant opens today - Orlando Sentinel
GrumpyUTboi 10-13-2008, 06:37 PM Anyone have the phone number to make reservations for the T-Rex restaurant? We called the dining phone number for WDW and they stated that they are not the ones doing reservation for them. This is the only restaurant that my kids want to go to when we go down at the end of November.
Drince88 10-13-2008, 10:33 PM I thought I'd read that they were only going to do walk ins for this year.

Just last month, Disney closed six Pleasure Island nightclubs, and their more-family-oriented replacements will be up to two years away, increasing an ...

stan4d_steph 10-14-2008, 07:25 AM The contact information hasn't been uploaded to the T-Rex Cafe website yet, but when it does you should be able to find it here (http://www.trexcafe.com/Main/Findus.html). The restaurant is managed by Landry's, who also have the Rainforest Cafes and the Yak and Yeti.
Shawnda C 10-14-2008, 06:36 PM I have contacted Landry's about reservations, they said they will not be taking reservations until sometime in 2009... but they gave me a number to call to check back, 407-828-TREX.
mkraemer 10-14-2008, 09:09 PM Much as my kids *love* the Rainforest Cafe, I have to say that this new restaurant has suddenly become the 'must see' place to eat for them! We have high expectations!
jengold29 10-15-2008, 04:15 AM We are planning to try and eat there next friday night (10/24). I'm a little nervous about what the wait will be, I hope my family has the patience to wait it out!
DoodleMushyBoo 10-15-2008, 05:52 AM I concur, we'll be there 1026 - 11/1 and we're going to try and try until we get in. . . it looks fun fun fun :)

Please post back to us and let us know all about your experience! I am so excited about this new restaurant!
kkmickey 10-16-2008, 10:23 PM Are they taking reservations, and if so, do you go through Disney or the restaurant directly?
Drince88 10-17-2008, 04:27 AM Are they taking reservations, and if so, do you go through Disney or the restaurant directly?
I merged 2 T-Rex threads. There's a phone number farther up here, and a note that they aren't taking reservations yet.
DoodleMushyBoo 10-17-2008, 06:51 AM Indeed - here's the DL on the ADR status of TRex
No - You can not get ADR's through Disney, Like Rainforest Cafe, they are NOT technically a Disney restaurant and thus are not through the Disney ADR service.
No - they are not on the Disney Dining plan (same reason as above)
No - they are not taking reservations until 2009 (even though their own company) this info is directly from an email I recieved from the manager. THey are doing first come first serve at this pointe adn come 2009 they will begin to do some sort of call ahead system (i'm not sure they'll ever truly do Advanced Reservations in the way most of us know and love them)
Yes they are open! i can't wait to eat there in a week! Take a look at the photos posted in the Orlando Papers online, it looks magical indeed. My hubby is in theatre and he was wowed by how fabulous it would appear they have done. He commented "they could have so easily cheated and made it likeable but a cheasy dino eating place - but they did it correcty, they did it well, in true Disney fashion" So for whatever that is worth :)
i can't wait to read reviews soon , and i'll be sure to post any that we are lucky enough to have when we get back. . .
wishiwasthere 10-19-2008, 12:09 PM It looks like a cool place, but the food doesn't look it is worth the price. I know you are paying for atmosphere, but they main reason I am going is to eat and I can't see paying $16 for lasagna.
marisag 10-20-2008, 08:29 PM I am definitely looking forward to trying it. Please post any reviews.
vamassey 11-07-2008, 03:54 PM Does anyone know if this is going to be on the Disney Dining Plan for 2009? I really want to try this.
Shawnda C 11-07-2008, 05:26 PM I was told by Disney and Landry's (who owns RainForest Cafe and T Rex) that it was not going to be on the DDP, RainForest Cafe is not on it either... and TRex was not even going to be taking reservations until sometime next year.
stan4d_steph 11-10-2008, 07:00 AM Does anyone know if this is going to be on the Disney Dining Plan for 2009? I really want to try this. No, it won't be on the Dining Plan.
I have merged your thread with a recent thread on the same topic. See above for more replies.
deanglin 11-10-2008, 01:28 PM We hope to eat at the T Rex on Dec. the 18th, that will be a great way to start Christmas 2008.
Alex S. 11-10-2008, 02:01 PM T-Rex has been added to our guide and our review system. So if you have eaten there it would be great if you added your review (http://www.mouseplanet.com/cgi/reviews/do/submit.cgi?product-sku=wdwddtrex).
wishiwasthere 11-11-2008, 07:01 PM When we were at WDW last week my mom and sister decided that was where we were going to eat dinner on Sunday, November 2. I checked out the menu prior to us getting there and I declined along with my boyfriend because I thought it was too overpriced and nothing looked good to me.
I am so glad I did. It was my mother, father, sister, cousin, uncle, and uncle's friend. When they got back to the room they did not look happy. They thought the food was horrible and was very overpriced. My cousin's nickname is "the carnivore" and she doesn't understand how people don't eat 5 full meals a day (of course she weighs all of 80 pounds but that's besides the point) and she didn't like it. They went for the ambiance and was seated behind a dinosaur that blocked everything. They all agreed that Rainforest Cafe is a lot better.
I gave them the "I told you so" look and was happy I enjoyed my dinner at Earl of Sandwich.
Also, they do not take your AP for 10% off like Rainforest Cafe does.
jengold29 11-13-2008, 04:24 AM We tried to get in on our last trip.
The wait times were quite long (over 2 hours) and I could not convince my family to wait.
If you really want to eat there, try going at an off hour or be prepared to wait. and wait. and wait.
Wendi 11-13-2008, 09:52 PM We will probably try it on our trip next month. I just ordered (and received) a $25 Landry's gift card from rewards on mypoints.com so we have free money to spend there... it's like my own little extension of the dining plan. I was happy to hear from someone else who did this because I never would've thought of it, and since the gift card isn't expressly for T-Rex cafe I wouldn't have known about it otherwise, so I'm passing on this tip to you!
If you participate in mypoints.com you can make a free meal out of it!!!
zekmoe 12-03-2008, 12:09 PM We ate there a couple of weeks ago. Noisy, food only pub grade and average, noisy, very crowded, expensive for the food alone, but not if you factor in the environment, noisy.
Did I say Noisy? c+ at best.
Shawnda C 01-05-2009, 05:55 PM Just a FYI... I called today just to check, and T Rex in Downtown Disney started taking reservation just today. I was calling for Wed Jan 28th and it was almost already booked so if you want to eat there, call soon!
