This was our trip for the Mickey's Trick or Treat. We drove on 10/9 about halfway, drove the rest on 10/10 and were in the park by 11:00am on 10/10. We started in DL at Astroblasters which is DS's favorite. The decorations in the park were awesome. We hadn't been at Halloween before and I really loved the big Mickey pumpkin on mainstreet!

After Astroblasters, we headed to get FPs for Haunted Mansion. DS and DH hit Tarzan's Treehouse while I tried out the single rider line on Indy. It's not marked so you have to know to ask. I walked straight on! It was a huge bonus for us because even with the child swap passes, we often skip Indy because of the time it takes. Instead we both rode separately while DS was easily entertained and we had fun too!

The HM overlay was spectacular- also a first for us. DS liked the new elevator scenes because the original ones freak him out. The new "Jack" overlay was much better for him. The boys headed out to Pirate Island while I did a bit of shopping. Then we headed to La Quinta to check in and get our costumes on.

The La Quinta was really nice and surprisingly clean on the inside considering the price. We liked the indoor halls, the decent free continental breakfast and the room was huge. We had a king with a sliding door and DS on a hide-a-bed in the other room. Other than one very very loud disturbance at 2am, it was a great, cheap hotel. Even with all the noise, one call to the front desk and security responded in under 3 minutes.

The Trick or Treat party was a blast! We got at least 3 pounds of candy each, saw a few characters (Bowler Hat guy!) that we'd never seen out before and took some pictures. I had hoped to see more characters out wandering instead of just at photo stations. We also wanted to buy stuff but there didn't seem to be a lot of options!

Saturday we went slow- started the morning at the Disneyland Hotel driving the boats and wandering around. We had brunch at Goofy's Kitchen. DS had a long chat with Aladdin and we enjoyed the experience. We liked Plaza Inn better though since they had more characters and we all agreed a wider variety of food. Afterwards we headed to DL for more Astroblasters, Autopia and more.

Sunday we spent at DCA- we hit TSMM at rope drop and were off by 10:05. We ran back to get in line again but ended up waiting 55 minutes!! DS was still thrilled, he got to ride 2x. DH rode Screaming and TSMM in the single rider line 2x, in the same amount of time. We leisurely wandered all day and DS tried out It's Tough to Be a Bug for the first time. He wasn't scared and really liked it! Bummer for me- the Blue Sky Cellar was closed for some reason. After dark we went back to DL to finish up in Fantasyland during the parade and ice cream on Main Street at the end.

Long drive back on Monday- the fire in the hills had things pretty backed up. We did get to watch a CalFire helicopter refuel which was pretty cool for us but a tragedy for those who lost their homes this weekend.
Overall, awesome trip!

Thanks for your trip report. It sounds like you had a great time.
How did you get from the La Quinta to DL - did you walk or do they have a shuttle? Would you stay there again? Its always nice to hear that a hotel was responsive to a problem.

We drove because we have Premium APs and don't have to pay to park. However, the night of the trick or treat party, it would have been considerably faster for us to walk from La Quinta. Traffic was terrible and it took us nearly 30 min to get from the hotel and parked, not including tram ride in. I don't believe they have their own shuttle but you can take the ART. If you know where the Gardenwalk Cheesecake Factory is, it's just across the street from there.

We would absolutely stay there again! I paid $80 for the Friday night and $70 for Sat and Sun nights, with continental breakfast and free parking. That was through the La Quinta website but I think we could have found cheaper rates if I'd poked around a bit more. For the size of the room, the amenities and location, it was an awesome price.
