Our trip is planned for Dec 13-20, and there are still tickets available for December 16 (we are leaving early on the 20th, so we won't be seeing much that day) . What special Christmas decorations/events will we NOT be able to see if we don't go to the Christmas party. Is it really, really crowded? What are the pros/cons? Thanks -

There are two big things you'll miss - the Christmas Parade and the special fireworks. If you were staying later, they do run the parade during the day when it gets closer to Christmas - but that doesn't look to start until the 20th (3:00 pm)

There's also cookies and hot chocolate, and a couple of special shows and such, but they aren't the big draw.

I know about the Christmas parade and the special "Wishes" - what about the Castle Dream Lights and snow. Will we get to see these if we don't attend MVMCP? (We will be leaving the Disney area by about 3pm on 12/20).

And what about the crowds? Is it crazy busy, or manageable? We don't have small kids (2 adults and 2 teens), so we would likely see "Twas the night before Christmas", then go on some rides, see Wishes, then see the 2nd Christmas parade. It would be nice to have the extra time in the park on the 16th, we would just have to adjust our schedule a bit, but we were planning on sleeping in on the 17th anyway.

Any other thoughts/opinions/suggestions?

The parade and the fireworks are only the begining. In 2005 when we went to the MVMCP Belle was dressed in her red dress which was amazing because she is one of my fav. characters. So they do bring out some "special" characters for those parties. We loved the dance parties as well. And yes the hot chocolate and cookies are really good too. There is so much to do that we tend to run out of time. As yo9u get closer to Christmas crowds do get larger. Disney only sells a certain amount of tickets for these special events to crowds are reasonable. The castle lights are amazing. If you can go I would. We will be there on December 9th.

The castle lights should be on in the evenings even when the party isn't being held. I don't think any snow, though. But you can see Snow at the Osborne lights in the Studios.

I don't think the parties are crazy-busy, and you're not going to the LAST one (which would be worse) And weekdays are generally better.

I don't know about the Christmas Party : I will attend it for the first time next November (about 3 weeks from now ! Yeah !!!).

But if it's something like the Halloween Party, I would say don't miss it. The atmosphere of these special occasion is just pure fun with special parade, show, character greeting, and surprises.

It just add that extra bit of magic to the kindgom (:D) !

The cookies are really good!

To me, the best part is just the general atmosphere of Christmas goodness. The fireworks are good and so are the other events, but I just love being there and going around getting my free goodies. It's also special to me because it is my birthday when I go, too, so I feel like it's kind of a party for me!
