The directions for the form to use are in the top sticky threads of each trip report forum. You won't see your TR thread right away because new threads are moderated. Once a moderator sees and approves your thread, it will be visible. The best way to separate days is by posts. So you'd start your thread with the first post, presumably pre-planning and/or the beginning of your trip. Once you see your thread, then you can reply to that same thread with the next installment of your report. And remember: The return key is your friend. :) (Not saying you don't know how to use it, it's just the one thing I see time and time again that drives me batty in trip reports is long reports with few or no returns or spaces between long paragraphs. :)) Adrienne Andrew 10-07-2008, 03:19 PM Just post in the appropriate Trip Reports forum (Disneyland (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/forumdisplay.php?f=53), Walt Disney World (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/forumdisplay.php?f=54), elsewhere (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/forumdisplay.php?f=55)). We suggest you format your reports according to the standard guidelines (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=93873). Adrienne I was looking in the WDW Trip Report Forum earlier and did not see the sticky...did I miss it or did it 'unstick' itself? We suggest you format your reports according to the standard guidelines (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=93873). Looked for this as well and could not find it... some days I am lucky my head is attached! :p njtravelerof6 10-16-2008, 11:01 AM I looked for it too (having remember seeing the trip report guidelines there once before) when I was ready to post my pre-planning trip report and didn't find it. Then, it appeared again a few days later. My question: I have been working on my 13 day trip report in a WordPerfect document (same format I used for the pre-planning report that I posted - then I just cut and pasted it right into the thread and it worked great) and have a few more days to write and then going back to edit. It is already 28 pages long! I don't think I've included a ton of details but it is definitely not a "summary" trip report as others have posted. What do you think? I don't know how it will translate once I cut and paste it into a thread how long it will look. I do intend to separate each by by pressing "Reply" so each new day is its own message so people can keep track if they can't read the report all in one sitting. Can anyone give me an idea of how long their document was (pages) before posting it? It is my first trip report and I certainly don't want to burden or bore everyone if it's really too long. Suggestions, ideas? Thanks! stan4d_steph 10-16-2008, 11:04 AM Suggestions, ideas? Thanks!Just make sure you separate the paragraphs so that it's not just one giant block of text. njtravelerof6 10-16-2008, 01:00 PM No worries - I am a BIG fan (and user) of the double return to create paragarphs and easily readable text. Thanks. adriennek 10-16-2008, 02:59 PM Can anyone give me an idea of how long their document was (pages) before posting it? It is my first trip report and I certainly don't want to burden or bore everyone if it's really too long. Suggestions, ideas? Thanks! Frankly, I don't think you should worry. There's room for every style of TR. Some people's reports are so short and so undetailed that I find them less helpful than long detailed reports. If you're worried that it's too long may I make a suggestion? Break it into multiple posts. I like to read a report but know where I was so I can come back later if it's too long for one sitting. If you break it into multiple posts, like "chapters" it can make a longer report easier to read because it's easy to figure out "Now, where was I?" And likewise, others who like to read them all in one sitting can do that no problem. Oh, one more thing, multiple posts makes it easier for others to quote your report and find what part they want to focus on in their responses. Adrienne |
