After reading various reviews about the Contemporary Resort, and being a yearly guest of WDW, I wanted to give my impressions of the hotel, my experience staying there and hopefully assist any readers regarding their decisions about where to stay at WDW.
I have stayed at all the Value resorts; I have stayed at the Coronado Springs and the Port Orleans French Quarter; I have stayed at The Animal Kingdom Lodge; my recent vacation, The Contemporary Resort, Tower with a Magic Kingdom View.
The first comment I want to make is regarding various trip reports people have written about the tower rooms with the MK view. My room offered the most opportunity to be disturbed by "noise" outside my door. I had a room on the six floor, at the end of the hallway, directly over Chef Mickey's and new construction. I DID NOT hear a single bit of noise with my door shut. I repeat, I DID NOT hear a single bit of noise with my door shut. And considering the location of my room, I find other trip reports complaining of monorail noise, or construction noise or noise from Chef Mickey's very difficult to believe.
The sinks were not difficult to clean or drain. The towels were not that difficult to get to from the shower. I loved the chocolate marble and frosted glass in the bathroom. And the lights in the mirrors over the sink, very elegant.
Sitting on the balcony, I never heard a single bit of noise from the Magic Kingdom. On occassion, I could hear a toot from a ferry boat, but that was only when I was on the balcony. Watching Wishes and the various colors of the castle on the Halloween nights was wonderful as well.
Room service was always quick, pleasant and accurate.
The free internet service in the room was a nice touch as well.
Never had a problem with mousekeeping either.
The Wave was the only glich. Great food, not at all close to Disney service.
The proximinty to The Magic Kingdom was a plus. However, I rather enjoyed the short trip to the monorail. I also liked not having to walk to a bus after a day at Epcot. Taking the monorail to the TTC and then to the hotel was wonderful.
Loved the pool and the outdoor spas. Very relaxing after a long day.
Taking a ferry to the Hoop De Doo Review was a nice touch as well.
Eating at The California Grill with the complimentary photo as a Contemporary Resort guest was another classy touch. (They emailed that picture to me two business days after i arrived home. Very nice.)
Would I stay in this hotel again? Yes. Will I anytime soon? Probably not. While there was not a thing wrong with staying at The Contemporary, the fact remains that when at Disney, you need a room for sleeping and showering.
Would I recommend staying there to anyone? Of course.
