We're leaving Saturday for our scheduled October trip. We live just south of Nashville and we always take I-75 through Georgia, but apparently (according to the news and my BIL who lives there) it is way too risky to travel through Georgia this weekend because of the gas shortage.

Anyone on this board live in Alabama? I need to know if it is safe to take I-65 to Montgomery and then 231 to Marianna, FL.

And if you're in Florida, can you please give a gas update for your state! Thanks! I'm just getting VERY worried.

For what it's worth (very little to you, since it's not on your way!), I have seen no issues with shortages in the New Orleans area...

Here's a more helpful response. Are you a member of AAA? They might have some information about shortages. (I tried looking on the website briefly and couldn't find decent info - but a call into your local office might produce better results.)

Hi, I live in northeast Alabama, but I don't know how much help I will be. I haven't personally had problems getting gas, but a friend of mine warned me on Sunday that several gas stations were out of gas. She did find a place to get gas, however, and I'm not sure if the problem is getting worse or better.

I'm a college student and try not to drive too much (which is easy living on campus)... so I guess I'm not very aware of the situation over all.

I'm in South FL and no issues here.

Spoke to a friend near Atlanta and they were having big shortages last week but it was expected to ease by now.
