I've been looking around on the DW website, and came across the couple's massage at the Grand Floridian. Since I am going to DW for my honeymoon I thought that would be a wonderful addition if we could do it.

Has anyone experienced a spa treatment at DW? Can you give me insight into costs and details? Also, can you use the spa of a resort you aren't staying at? I'm staying at the Beach Club Villas. Any info would be great. I will probably call for details, but I like to read others opinions.

Also, is there a difference between the various resort's spas... Dolphin, Grand Floridian, Saratoga Springs? Thanks...

I haven't been to the WDW spas but am sure it would be lovely. One word of caution on the couple's massage-I did that at another resort with my dh once and realized we have very different ideas of 'relaxing'-he was chatty cathy the whole time :) and I just wanted to veg out!

There are some comments about spas in general in this thread (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=90895&highlight=massage) as well as this one (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=103965&highlight=massage).

Ok, I read all the previous threads linked and I looked at the official site link and I have a question...

Are these like "day spas" or are they like "Resort Spa Destinations"?

The last time I was at a resort, I went to their spa and it was amazing - warm waterfalls to sit under, sauna, eucalyptus scented steam room, iced water, robes, sandals, rose scented washcloths on ice, etc, etc.

Is that what these are like?

I've been to the Grand Floridian spa, and it is more like what you would call a day spa. There is a lounge where you can sit before/after your treatment. There is also a hot tub and sauna off the women's lounge.

No waterfalls, etc. It's nice, but I've had nicer massages at my local Arvada. It was much smaller than I thought it would be but the showers are MONEY. They were really nice. I think I have a few pics.....let me see....Ah, flickr is being a PAIN tonight. I've been trying for HOURS to get on there and it just "thinks and spins." Ick! If you want my pics, let me know.... (PM or note here....) I can try again tomorrow.

Okay... I have another question. There are two different massages I'm considering:

Share a relaxing Aromatherapy Couple’s massage and discover a new sense of togetherness, or try the Couple’s Instructional Massage with step by step instructions in effective massage techniques with educational tips by your therapist as you and your partner learn together!

Grand Romantic Couple's Massage - 50 & 80 minutes - $275/$375
Couple's Instructional Massage - 180 minutes - $300

Now, the instructional massage seems like a better price for the time... BUT I wonder if it is mostly instructional and not much real massage. Honestly, I have shoulder pain from high school sports and enjoy a good massage. I'm afraid that either of these might be too froo froo. I think it would be neat to be instructed on massage techniques because we've actually talked about that before. I just don't know...

What are your thoughts? Which massage would you do? I'm not really sure that we'd be able to do any of it, but it is something to think about.

I'd rather have it done than learn how to do it. However, there's that line about giving someone a fish vs. learning how to fish, but I digress....:D

The instructional one is probably only one therapist, while the other one is two therapists - therefore the difference in the costs.

Since it's your honeymoon, I'd suggest the non-instructional one so your can lay back & relax-- but when you come home, taking a lesson (or lessons, depending on how in-depth you want to get) together could be a nice weekend activity.
