I am planning a 4 day/3 night trip to US/IOA in FL. Would like recommendations on nice hotels close to the parks that provide shuttle service to/from the parks? I am considering staying on-site at the Hard Rock, but would like to explore other options off-site as well.

We will be there on a Saturday and Sunday at the end of January. Is this a good time to go? Any recommendation on what day to do what park (i.e. crowds)?

There is a fairly nice Radisson right oustide Universal property that runs a shuttle. It's close enough to walk if you're motivated, and their rates tend to be pretty reasonable.

I don't know what the Radisson charges, but the Royal Pacific on property is really nice. it is some what cheaper then the hard rock, and in my opinion a little more kid friendly.
the adavantages are increased with the addition of the universal express pass. this really makes you feel like a vip. once you have done it you will however feel spoiled.
check out my review of the hotel in this area, if it is within your budget, and guessing that you are considering the hard rock it seems it is, then you may want to consider what I believe is the best hotel and the best value in the area.

I don't know of any discount codes, but you can try the major travel websites (Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz) because they each often have special rates. If you have an Entertainment card sometimes that rate is worth it, and if you're a member of the GoldPoints program they sometimes have special offers, too. Good luck!
