what should i do with my messenger bag or small purse while on rides? i know expediton everest along with other rides have a small place to put bags and such, but what about rides that don't have those spaces? i almost had a heart attack last year on space mountain when i had to loop my purse around my arm and my palms were so sweaty olding on for dear life that my video camera, digital camera, wallet and cell phone almost went flying out of the vehicle about 10 times!!!

there are just two of us and our 3 year old so if we have to parent swap, i'll leave my stuff with my husband. but we're planning on getting a baby sitter one night so we can ride stuff together, what to do with it then?

For larger cameras I would either leave it in the room or get a locker. Normally with a small purse or messenger bag I would put the point and shoot camera and cell phone in the bag and place it on the ground behind my legs and loop the strap around my thigh.

Never have needed a wallet at the park. We charge most everything to the room and bring about $20 each into the park. This year we had those pin trading lanyards to put the room key and pocket money in.

so the room key as a charge card is a good idea? no hidden costs?

Well, no hidden costs. BUT if you are afraid of spending too much (like someone I personally know :D:D me! :D:D) I would suggest having them print you a statement each night!!!

If you are staying on site, your room key (or Key to the World card as it is known) can be used to charge things to your room. The limit is determined by the amount of a deposit left at check in. This is a good thread (LINK (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=111011&highlight=room+charge)) that kinda goes over that topic.

As for bags, I carry a medium-sized camcorder bag with me at the World and tend to not have any issues taking it on most rides. (I throw my camera, camcorder, wallet, and phone in there.) I just make sure I hold on to it and / or make sure it is firmly secured. As long as it is firmly latched closed, I dont worry about it. It even survived RnRC and the three mountains. It can take a little practice getting used to holding it on the rides, but it became second nature without hindering the ride experience.

I wear cargo shorts for extra pockets...and...
my wife says that I make wearing a fanny pack look good.

I solved this by investing in a small back pack. You can turn it around onto your front when on rides so everything is safe and your hands are free. It took me a while to source it but it was worth it and was a bit of a tardis too. Fitted water bottles, ponchos and my camera and purse and camcorder, although I've got a pretty small one.

A small messenger-style purse can be worn across your chest, and lies flat, so it does not get in the way of your activities. I have a couple of purses which are just big enough for a mini-wallet, with our passes, room key cards, ID and a small amount of cash, and small personal care items. It will also fit a small camera. I put it on in the morning, and it stays on all day. It does not get in the way of rides. If you need to carry a change of clothes for your child, and maybe sweatshirts, you can bring a small tote bag or backpack, which can stay with your stroller, if you are using one. It is unlikely that anyone will go though your bag, but I would not leave any valuables in it. On that note, the rental fees for strollers went way up last year-you will probably be better off bringing your own lightweight stroller. Even if you child is able to walk pretty far, Epcot, especially, is very large, and usually involves walking for a few miles, and she would probably get really tired, and you would end up carrying her.

Is tardis a word outside of Dr. Who land?

Of course! Describes an apparently small space which is huge. Don't you guys use the word like that?

Not sure if you got Dr Who on TV first time around?? Guessing not.

I actually had never heard of it before, and I can't think of any word we use to describe that, unless it's describing a teenager as having a hollow leg because of all they can eat in a little body.

Is there a new Dr. Who? I remember not watching it in the early 80s...

I'm a big Dr. Who fan, at least in its current incarnation on BBC America. But I've never heard the word used as a general noun, nor are there any references that I can find in online dictionaries that don't attribute the word to Dr. Who. But that's all OK - I figgered out what you meant!

And Cathy, the new series has been on for 3 or 4 years now, and is really spectacular. Great acting, first rate special effects, incredible scripts. One of my favorite shows!

Unlike the other posters who seem to be practical about it, I am quite stubborn & pretty much always have a large bag with me (either my across-body lesportsac that completely zippers up or vera bradley tote that only sort of closes with a button). On rides like Space Mtn or ToT or Rockn' Roller Coaster, or pretty much any fast ride without a bag in front (although those mesh things are never big enough), I loop it the strap around my legs so the bag is under them & just hold it against whatever I'm sitting on. I use the lesportsac if I think it will rain or that I'll be going on Splash because it keeps the stuff inside dry.

I can't think of any other rides where it's a problem... but basically the advice to get a bag with lots of zippers! It's the one thing my grandmother taught me that I remember the most.

That's fair, I don't think it has been 'formally' accepted as a noun in the dictionaries, outside of Dr. Who speak attributions. However, it is used that way here in common parlance, I suppose given the long term popularity of Dr. Who. (By the way, if you've only seen the new series you should find a way of viewing the originals, you'll LOVE them :) ) Interesting use of a word, tends to take the form of an adjective without using a noun, which actually defies the meaning of an adjective, (gramatically related to a noun) but that is how it's used!!
