Hi - I have read up on your forums and think the info is great, I am wondering if I may be able to get some inside advise from people with limited mobility who have been to Disneyland and tried the various rides. I have congenital muscular dystrophy - basically all over muscle weakness, can walk short distances but use a wheelchair for distances - in terms of stairs and drops I need assistance and preferrably a rail - what are the nest value rides and the ones to avoid - any general tips and advice if it takes time to board the rides do the staff mind?? I will have someone available with me to help but don't want to get caught short.....I went to the theme parks in the Gold Coast and had a terrible time could not really ride anything !!! - thanks for your suggestions

If you can transfer form a chair, you can ride almost everything. There are a few rides you would need to be able to transfer quickly and walk out if needed. You would probably want to avoid these. The 2 I would avoid would be Big Thunder Mountain and Screamin'. Other rides can be held to allow you to board. Space Mountain actually has a specific rocket that you can take as long as you need to load and when the rocket is loaded, they move it to the track. We went with a young woman with cerebral palsy and she rode almost everything, but had to be transferred. CMs (Disneyland employees) cannot move you or assist you. But they will help by moving your chair or giving advice as to how you might load easier. Depending on your upper body strength, Indy and Star Tours may be questionable.

In addition to the Space Mountain special loading area/rocket...on Buzz lightyear you don't even need to transfer, it has a vehicle set up for you to ride in your chair, as does The many adventures of Winnie the Pooh. The Jungle boat cruise has one boat that has wheelchair capacity that you don't have to transfer but I understand it isn't always out in the rotation, when we needed it they told us to come back in about an hour and they'd have it out and available and they did! Over in DCA you can stay in your chair on Monsters Inc and the new Toy Story Mania. Soaring over California the CMs will let you take your chair to the seat, transfer then they'll move your chair out of the way until the end of the ride and then return it to you. The trains have HCA cars and 3 of the 4 stations have ramps to load those cars. The Haunted Mansion has specific doombuggies that are designed for ease of transfer from your chair. You might have to wait a bit since they are doombuggies 5,6,7,8 and I want to say 9 but don't hold me to that, so if you get down to the load zone and notice that doombuggie #12 just went by you're in for a few minutes wait, but when they load you, they stop the moving walkway and give you all the time necessary to board ...and they unload you at the load zone and help you by bringing your chair out to the doombuggie. As has been mentioned the CM's can't physically help you transfer but they will gladly move your chair around or hold it for you as you disembark.
