Hi everybody-
I am visting Disneyland for what must be about the 20th time. I however have a chronic issue with my knee. It is essentially that I have minimal amount of cartilage in my knees and severly stretched but not torn tendons. It all stems from back to back injuries in ballet class and basketball ( Ripped my miniscus during a ballet permormance, went straight to a basketball game the next day then did the same thing on the other knee) While I can generally get around town just fine on a day to day basis with my knee brace or crutches, I just cant make it standing in lines for an hour plus or walk for that long, my knee will litterally collapse out from under me. I cant use a wheelchair or an ECV due to another issue steming from a car accident. ( Im toally in a catch 22, I know. Cant sit for that long, Cant stand for that long, oh well :) ) Everybody on thisi sit has amazing tips and ideas so Im wondering what you guys might suggest for this trip?

Might a walker with the built in seat be a mid level solution? It would help support your weight as you go thru the park and has instant seating if you need to take a break and rest while in the queue?

DH's mom (and another friend with severe back problems)will actually use her wheelchair like a walker. She will push it herself while using the wheelchair to support herself, and then when she is too tired she sits and one of us pushes her. That way she can switch back and forth as she has severe arthritis in both her knees and her lower back.

These idea's are wonderfull! Thank you so much!
I think what Im going to do is bring my crutches for at least the first few days and then get a wheel chair if I need it the last few days.
I hate when people assume that becuase Im 20 and in a wheel chair I couldnt actually have something wrong with me. UGH!

If you're going with a group, I'd actually consider renting an evc from offsite and having someone take turns driving it when you are on the crutches. That way you can take mini breaks during the entire trip and enjoy it more.

Thats also a good idea. There is a group of us, so that might work.
Should I consider trying to get one of those pass thingy's?

BTW - Neither the pass nor the wheelchair will get you to bypass a line. The difference is where you wait. For example, Space Mountain you wait in a seated area near the exit. The line is frequently longer than the standby line, and if you have a wheelchair/crutches/other assistance, they will generally not allow you through the fastpass line if you get a fastpass. (You will be required to use the HA rocket which will allow you extra time to load.)

I wouldn't worry about waiting too long in lines if your trip is in early Dec, the lines are usually pretty quick. You might wait a few minutes longer in the HA lines, but you can be seated or relaxed and the weight can be off your knees.

My son used a wheelchair and an ECV on trips when he was 17-19. He has Osgood-Schlatter bilaterally in his knees. No one ever said anything to him. If you need the ECV/wheelchair, use it.
