QuikQuote: Walt Disney Co. Monday said that it would wrest full control of Winnie the Pooh in 2004 from the company that is suing it over commercial rights to the honey-loving bear.
But a lawyer for Stephen Slesinger Inc., the company whose ongoing suit could cost Disney up to $200 million by one Disney calculation, said her clients would block any attempt to strip them of their rights to the cuddly bear created by British writer A.A. Milne in the 1920s.

WOW:eek:

In a strange legal move, that will guarantee the employment of lawyers for the next few years, Disney and the Milne heirs are trying to use a provision of the Sonny Bono act passed in 1998, that is under review at the present time at the Supreme Court, to wrangle the merchandising rights from the Slesinger heirs.

Now, will the Bono act be overruled by the Supreme Court?, and if not, then this provision will be in the courts for a long time!
