Ok, this post will be reasonably light on details but I want to get this information out.

Here at MousePlanet we have been bouncing around an idea for an "off-season" mini-event to bridge the winter gap between MouseAdventures.

We have scheduled our first attempt for this on Sunday, December 8, 2002. And because it is our first attempt, and because we are filled with the "Christmas/Winter/Kwanzaa/Hannuka/Ramadan/damn kids get off my lawn/St. Patrick's Day/look a shiny object" spirit, it will be offered to any and all MousePad members for absolutely FREE.

Here is what we know about the event:

1) It will be an EyeSpy oriented event. There may be a couple other side things, but simple EyeSpy identification will be the core. For those who have not done MouseAdventure, EyeSpies are pictures taken from around the park and you simply have to identify the location of the photo.

2) It will be very laid back. You don't have to start at any particular time and you don't have to end at any particular time. We'll be on hand to let you start around 10am (probably) and the game will run until 5pm. Start late, finish early, however you want to go.

3) To keep things laid back, prizes will be minimal (you get what you pay for) and winners won't be announced until the next day.

4) If you want to participate, send me an email at mouseadventure@mouseplanet.com and let me know your MousePad screen name and how many people you will have with you.

5) Teams are not a requirement. If you want to play alone, you can. If you want to play with 83 people, you can. But we will only give one game packet to each group.

6) In addition to MousePad members, this event will also be open to any participants in the most recent MouseAdventure who wish to play. Emails will go out to all teams and team members (for whom I have email addresses) within the next couple of days.

Keep in mind this is a dry run for us and that this isn't intended to be a particularly competitive event. Just a shiny bauble to give your day at the park an extra element.

I will post updates here as I think of them.

Yay! Fun!! Gotta love Eyespy.

I probably know the answer to this (that answer being, "We're not sure, it depends on the response to this one, and how smoothly it goes, etc., etc."), but I have to ask anyway. Is this a one time thing, never to be done again, or are you thinking about popping one out every once in a while to keep us monkeys entertained? (I'm right about the answer, aren't I?).

I had my hunches, but this finally officially explains why y'all had been so dang evasive when I suggested the brunchers just kind of go around with digital cameras doing it on our own (of course, I don't think this will stop me in the future because it would just be too fun, and it was an idea I had long ago, before I'd ever head of MousePlanet). At first I was thinking you had some sort of legal objection (either with MouseAdventure, or you were afraid Disney might get peeved), which was just baffling to me. I'd say, "Gosh, this will teach me to always trust Alex's great wisdom," but somehow I just can't bring myself to say that.

Too early! Push it back 2, 3, 4 weeks and I'd be there, no question about it.

If we can't be there that day, would it be possible to arrange to get the packet to play on our own at a more convenient time?

And while I'm asking questions, who do I bribe so that future MousePlanet events are held on a day when I have a shot in H-E-double hockey sticks of being able to attend?

Yes, it is something we hope to do again, as a more formal (pay-as-you-play) type event. But we'd like to give it a try without setting expectations too high just so we can get a feel of the event it would be.

You guys are of course welcome to do whatever you want on your own time. I was just trying to momentarily put the kabosh on you doing one right this minute.

And you should all trust in my wisdom. I don't believe in any supreme beings, but if you do, feel free to think of me as one.

Alex, why are you giving away the fact that you were planning on dressing up as Diana Ross for Halloween?! :D

I am going to sit in the corner and pout now...

We will be at DLR from Dec 4-7, leaving in the afternoon on the 7th. Oh well, since we may be getting APs during our trip, there will be other times to have fun!

I definitely want to do this...alas, I think Gauchograd99 is still not in the mood. I'll ask him, though, but otherwise I'll be going it alone. Still, with no particular time limit, it'll just be a fun way to spend the day! Great idea (especially in sedating us competition-freaks) :)

Hey sounds like a great idea. I would love to participate. Look forward to more details.

Yipee!!!!
and I'm getting better at Eye-Spy, too.

Just PLEASE don't make me add up the pictures and divide by the number of strollers outside Small World and then answer a question about what color the carperting was in the first scene of the Carousel of Progress. :)
Much obliged!

Damn, there goes my best puzzle idea. Guess I'll have to come up with something else for April. :~D

Hee hee! You may be in luck! That's the weekend I'm looking at being there...... :D I may bring Chloe down for her second birthday celebration. It depends on how the addition is going, blah, blah, blah, so we'll see....... I should know by next week sometime. Actually, the week after that would work better for me. Her actual birthday. I don't know. I might not make this event, after all. :(

Eye-Spy is my absolute worst game, but I'm usually left out of the decision making process on these things. The Team of Youth and Coolness leadership will have to make the decision.

Alex, just a couple of questions. Will the pictures be taken AFTER all the decorations are up? I know, a stupid question, but I would hope that is taken into consideration so that we're not looking for something covered over with decorations;) .

And is this at DL or DCA? I assume (and hope) it will be for DL. I didn't get time to really work on the eyespy at MouseAdventure, or MadScramble. So I would like to be able to focus on it for once.

I would love to be a "beta tester" for you. I will be signing up, but may need to adjust later for the number of people after I contact everyone.

Thank you for the opertunity to join in, Alex. Sounds like a great time.

Ecksellent. Sorry - post Angels hangover :D

Count us in!

We've already made plans for DL holidays for Dec 6,7,8.
We'll have a Gramma as well as a first timer guest with us.

Will churro incense and fast pass sacrifices garner extra points?

Well, see, I asked Alex to not make it on Dec. 8 because I have another commitment that day. It was the one date he asked us to vote upon that I didn't want. But Nooooooooooooo-oh. So there's a reasonable chance that I won't be there. You can give all the granola to Alex and Lani and save the chocolate and roses for me for next time.

So, I guess Adrienne isn't the one I should bribe.

Is anyone going to answer the questions I asked earlier on this thread? I'm kinda joking about the bribe one (though I will bring y'all granola if you really want it), but the first question was serious.

Well, I'm going to tease here before I "compose" a thread......but.......how about a potluck to go with all that eye-spying?

For those of you that weren't drawn to the Eye Spy alone, I'm uping the ante with some food as well.

I'll post more later this weekend (when I'm not supposed to be working - Hi AVP ;) )

Matterhorn Fan, to answer your serious question:

I don't know.

We are loathe to give out game materials that won't be coming back. We'll discuss and let it be known later.

RStar, we will try to make sure that all pictures are in there game day condition. Which either means after decorations are in place or things that won't be affected by decorations.

Oh, well, a potluck? You know I'll be there! :D

I already found flights for Dec. 7 in the am and will leave Dec. 9 in the evening. That weekend actually works better for me than the next weekend, which is Chloe's actual birthday, but also the weekend before a big fundraiser I'm working on. Also, Park Place Inn has availability for $56 a night, so we'll have "talks" this weekend, and hopefully it'll all work out.

I was hoping for a potluck! :)

I think this sounds like a great idea. Since I won't be able to attend any of these, I would like to claim my moral victory in advance.
