I'm thinking of going in April- the weekend of the 11-15. Am I crazy? I'll have a 7 and 1 1/2 year old in tow. This won't be our first trip, but we usually go off season. Just trying to work it around my sons school schedule.

I think being crazy will have to do with what your expectations and attitude are for your trip. If you expect to go and have all the rides be walk-ons and the park to be uncrowded, yes, you're crazy.

If you go understanding that you'll be dealing with crowds on the weekend, probably busy week-days, but that you'll have 3-4 days to pace yourself and see everything, then you're not crazy.

I think that the best thing you can do is prepare yourself and your son to minimize disappointments and so that you can have a good plan for dealing with the situation. Personally, I would plan to arrive early in the day- at rope drop. Head straight for Fantasyland and Toontown as soon as it opens, to get those rides under your belt. Then you can have a leisurely afternoon, maybe go back to your hotel room to give the 2 1/2 year old a nap, let the 7 year-old rest, and go back in the evening. Then you can play around some more.

How many adults will you have? If you have two and the younger child gets tired, he/she can sleep in the stroller while one adult and the 7-year-old go on rides in the evening, too. If that doesn't work out for you, that's ok, you have a few days to enjoy the resort.

Thanks for the advice! Grandma and grandpa will be with us, so I'll have some extra hands. Grandma also suggested going in late March. When do the spring break crowds usually hit?

Well, we have year round kids so I will just go by what their
'Spring Break' says, April 14-18. I am assuming this the week of Easter? Sorry, I don't have a '03 calendar.

I would assume {again, assuming} that the worse crowds will be during the week of Easter. As, not only year round kids but traditional calendar schools will be out.

So, if you have a calendar........

If my dates are right, maybe your first days will not be as crowded as your last?

Either way, you will be at Disneyland!! So, how can you lose? ;)

Have fun!!

Most of Oregon has Spring Break in March--usually the third week. Many other states have spring break at this time too and it gets pretty crowded. We've gone the first week in March and it was empty. That was so great!

We're also planning an April trip for our daughter's birthday. Not much we can do about it, except hope that we miss major Spring Breaks.....oh well. :)
