We finally decided POR is a definate for next trip.Does anyone recommend Room location for us if we like being near Food Court as we eat alot lol..Do not want to see parking lot at all. Also do you recommend we drive our car to parks as I hear transpo is not so good there.A must for us is dinner at Ohanas(FINALLY) is that better to drive to? We are not going until next year and when we go it will be a more quiet time there.Any input appreciated.

Mongolia Bend is a nice spot. Decently close to the food court and near a quiet pool. That would be my first choice.

As for bus transportation - been there multiple times and never had a problem. The last time we were there (last year at this time in fact) we had our car and barely drove it over the 10 day trip.

If you are having dinner at 'Ohana and plan at being at one of the parks beforehand, just take a bus or Monorail to the Poly. No need to drive, but that is just my 2 cents.

I would recommend the Oak Manor building on the Magnolia Bend side of the resort. That is the building we always ask for now. We have tried the Alligator Bayou side and did not like it. It is close to the main buildings - just over a pedrestrian bridge.

We always use the buses. We go once or twice a year and never have any problems. If you are not going directly from a park to Ohana - I would just go to MK and take the monorail to Poly.

There is also a boat to DtD that is just wonderful especially in the evenings - we normally do several dinners over there becuase of the boat.

Actually, we did this once, parked at Poly and ate. But we planned our ADR on a night the MK and EMH, so it worked out very nice. You could just hop on the monorail with little crowd, and then drive home without a problem.

Have a great trip!

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside (POR) for our honeymoon in 2006. We loved this resort. The buses are fine and we used them a lot, but they do make four stops in POR and once at the French Quarter.
My best advice, if saving time is your goal, is to take the bus to Magic Kingdom, but the car to the other three parks.

The buses for each park, (at least when we were there) start or drop off first at different locations in the complex. I.E., the buses for MK may start at the front of POR then travel around to the other 3 stops in POR then once at the French Quarter then on to the park, so the first stop on the way back would be the front of POR. The AK bus on the other hand may start out at the French quarter then head over to POR, make the rounds there then head to the park. So on the way back it may be a few stops before getting to your preferred stop. I think the Epcot and Studio buses started at the west and north depots. Although, by the time you figured out the system, your vacation may be over. ;) But, it is good to know if you really want a seat on the bus when things are busy first thing in the morning.

We were in Acadia House, close to a bus stop, north depot, nice and quiet, very few kids, but about a five minute, but very beautiful, walk to the food court. So I wouldn’t recommend this location for you.

BTW- with free dining, cheap air fare and a value resort (Pop Centaury) we couldn’t pass on such an affordable trip so we are heading back down September 10-15 for quick trip. Look for our report when we get back. Enjoy your trip!

We went in Feb, at first we were on the Mongolia Side, the building closest to POFQ. Would not recommend this for you, the walk to the food court, main building or bus was very long. Especially with a baby and legally blind, also we were in the back so we had to do stairs in the front to get to the main walk. We were transfered to Alligator Bayou after 2 days, to building 14, bottom floor. Real close to food court, real close to buses and a great room. Loved it.

Just to be picky, it's Magnolia Bend. The Mongolia side is MUCH farther away.

Which locations should be avoided..what sections are they called?

Not sure there are any real sections to avoid... more like which section would best suit you. Some of the feedback noted above may be able to help you make up your mind.

If you have a specific need, you may want to elaborate on such and we may be able to provide some specific feedback.

Have you decided if you prefer the mansions or alligator bayou? If you want to be in AB (the area we prefer), we like building 14, it's nice and close to the food court!

Our favorite is building 95 Parterre Place. It is the first building after the bridge over the river. The reason we pick this building is muti facited.

1) We were married at the World and this was the buildiing we stayed in.
2) It is close to a bus stop HOWEVER if you backtrack over the pedestrian bridge and take the bus from the Main House, it shaves about 15 minutes off the bus loop.
3) It's near a pool, not the "big" pool but a nice quite pool.
4) The laundry room is close by.
5) It's a very pretty very short walk to the Main House.

I hope this helps!

Wow the site is great! I can't wait until I have more time to explore it fully. Did you happen upon any other Resort web sites?

Just got back today. We stayed in Oak Manor facing the river in building 90. Loved it as we did not see the parking lot at all but it was still close enough to the food court for a short stroll. Got toddlers in tow. Also we did the carriage ride and absolutely loved it.

We had a car the whole time, and AAA Diamond parking and never used the shuttle servies.

Hope this helps.

They do have rollaways available but I am sure they would take up some good space. The rooms at most of the moderates are pretty much the same size and while they are of decent size, they dont have a huge amount of spare room.

Depending on who would be in the rollaway, some of the rooms at POR do offer a smaller trundle bed that rolls out from one of the regular beds. (To sleep a total of 5.) Most say that if you have a younger child or a smaller tween, this is a decent option.

Would it be possible to move the small table and chairs out of the way to make more floorspace???

Yes. I have known many people to move the table/chairs/bench around to make the space a little more guest-friendly and to accommodate things like larger strollers, cribs, and the like.

We had 4 of us, including 2 toddlers, and had a 2 bed room. We thought about adding a crib but the girls were fine in one bed, and us in the other. A single rollaway would fit in the space we would have used for a crib. I would hate to move things around as we liked the decor and room very much.

Hope you enjoy.

I heard you will not always get AB if requested. So I will need the rollaway. If its tight its tight.DS age 2 loves sleeping with Mommy and dh needs a bed and dd 13 usually gets the daybed when we do BC so we have to come up with a place for her little head to rest. Some worry of the economic crisis and others worry about room size..lol..just kidding:p
