I was thinking of switching from ASMu to Coronado to suprprise my boyfriend for his birthday. I called the travel agent and she said it is possible but for the 7 nights stay it would be an extra $423. Just curious...does anyone think that this is worth it? I don't mind paying for it if it is but I could find other ones to spend that money on him...
BTW: I did a forum search and read everything I could about switching hotels and the coronado before I asked this question :)

I think you're going to find the atmosphere of the Coronado Springs to be much nicer, much more romantic than the ASMu. The grounds are much nicer, the rooms are a bit bigger with much nicer decor, and the food court is excellent. CSR is my favorite of the moderates. Sometimes when budget requires it I'll stay at the Pop. But I find the moderates to be very much worth their price, especially with an annual passholder discount!

We have stayed at All-Star sports and Pop. Last year we up-graded to Coronado Springs. It was a nice resort and must say you are spoiled with the bus service there. We found it not to be any better then the value resort. We found the dining there was really expensive. The resort is beautiful, but we also like the atmosphere at the value resorts...We are heading back next month and are doing a value resort...the moderate are not much bigger and not anymore cleaner or fancier! Good luck!

Thanks for the opinions. I think I have decided to stay at ASMu this year and get him another surprise at Disney, perhaps one of the tours he has been talking about. We will stay at a nice(r) place next year when we honeymoon there :)

Also, use this trip as an opportunity to go tour around a moderate resort to see if you like the 'vibe' etc better. An easy one to do would be to take the boat from DTD to Port Orleans French Quarter, get off the boat, walk around a little bit, walk up to Port Orleans Riverside and walk around there a little (check out the pools, food courts, gift shops, etc) - and then take either the boat back to DTD to catch a bus to your resort, or take a bus to the park you're going to next (you can't catch a bus to a park from DTD!)

Thanks Drince88, that's a really good idea. That way we know exactly what it's like before we choose for the honeymoon next year! It is ok to visit all the resorts, correct? Is it possible to see a room beforehand?

You can move freely around all of the resorts. I'm not sure about room viewing, though. Perhaps you can find housekeeping cleaning a room that has no people in it, and stick your head in. As busy as the front desk is I'm not sure if they would allow you to get a key and go look at a room if you weren't booked there. But the public areas, lobby, restaurants and shops are all wide open. You could spend an entire day just visiting the incredible resorts!

I have actually done the resort visiting before. It is really neat to see all the different themes. We used to do it all the time when we went with DH's cousin - she was a travel agent so she needed to look around. We saw a wedding with Mickey and Minnie attending at the Grand Floridian years ago. People thought we were crazy running from the monorail to the wedding site so that we could see:)

Yes, I agree with resort visiting. We looked at Saratoga Springs, Old Key West, Contemporary, Boardwalk, and Wilderness Lodge and now we think Wilderness Lodge for our next trip. They really give you a good look at the resort.
Have a great trip!
